I just purchased a thread protector to cover the threads on my AA Overwatch 6.5G. The barrel is coated with either ceracoat or duracoat, and that includes the threads.
Needless to say, it don't just screw on. I am hesitant to wrench down on it as I know what is likely to happen. I put some anti-seize on the threads and have been tightening it by hand about an 1/8 turn every few minutes. I figure, at this rate, I will get it threaded all the way on around Christmas or New Years Day, maybe.
What am I missing here? Is there an easier way without sending it to either Alexander Arms or a riflesmith. My tap and die set does not include a 3/4" x 28 die.
I don't like the idea of my barrel being threaded and those fine threads just waiting for a bump or nick.
