So I took some forum advice and send off my ancient SDN-6 suppressor to be re-made into a more modern Ranger 7 and I'm going direct thread. I have a a bunch of hosts. Both 1/2-28 and 5/8-24.

I found in my parts bin flash hiders for half of them. But maybe I just need thread protectors for the rest? The whole point is to protect the threads and also still allow me to shoot at the range if I don't feel like using the suppressor that day.

What about the AR builds that are just for hunting? Any reason for a muzzle device at all?

I don't want to thread lock, index, or even go wrench tight so I can easily screw on the Ranger 7 when it's range time.

You might not want to hear it, but if you have one can that you’re swapping among numerous rifles, then doing a mounting system probably makes the most sense. Griffin’s Plan A is good to go and not nearly as expensive as some options.
