THREE (3) Rem 700 5-R's

Okay guys, looking for some input here. If I were able to get a package deal on three brand new 5-R's, what do you all feel would be a good price? Keeping in mind, there should be some sort of better pricing for buying three at one time.

Rifles are:
24" .223
20" (threaded) .308
26" .300


I'm waiting to hear back on his quote; seems I shouldn't pay more than about $3000 for the three of them since the .223 and .308 can be found online from other vendors for under $1100 each (actually around $1050). Let me hear your thoughts!


And just an FYI, this would be a sort of upgrade on two guns and adding a third. I have a .308 LTR and .300 PSS right now; the .300 having never been fired. So while it will be out of pocket on these, I'll recoup some cash when I sell the two 700P's

They're pretty much $1060 give or take brand new, so if you go with bulk discount of $50 off each, thats $1010x3=$3030. Depends on if u get a discount tho

I'd go for one custom rifle. Not really much of an "upgrade" from an LTR and 700 P.

check around locally, the 5r's that I have seen around here are 960ish new.

I've seen used .308 5R's with a 24" barrel go for $800-$900, but that's after looking a lot or waiting. The 300 might bring more. The 223 should be the same.

A "good deal" would be $2800 for all three. IMHO...

Are these all for you, or buying all at once for a couple people?

If they are all for you, I'd take that $3000 and pick up a nice custom out of the classifieds section here on the Hide. Prolly not what you want to hear, but just a thought.

Just got quoted $3040 from a guy in OH, shipped. The lay-out is a bit different:
.223 @ 20" threaded
.308 @ 20" threaded
.300 @ 24" non threaded

I'm thinking this is the ticket.

Niles coyote- do you recall where you were seeing them at that price and if they were threaded? I'd make the drive to SW MI if the savings were enough.

Not much of an upgrade or deal. What would posess you to want all three of the same rifle? They are great rifles out of the box but for that money you could have one very good custom.

To the guys mentioning having a great custom for the same cash... yeah, I could have ONE rifle in ONE caliber. But that isn't the point. I want a rifle in each of these calibers.

Now if I get a custom in each of these calibers, we can go ahead and say a min of $9k... Yeah, no thank you...


Edit: I'm not ruling out custom, just saying it won't be something I do right now. After I get these and get them set-up, I'll start looking to replace these one at a time with customs as the additional funds become available. In the mean time, I want each caliber for different uses and locations. Don't be mistaken to thinking these will get a ton of work done and turned into customs; that is the opposite of my intent. I can pick these up, have them to shoot while saving for the customs and when it comes time to get the custom, I can sell one off; sure I'll loose a little bit of cash, but I'll have been using it too.

I'd offer $3000, that would be a deal on your end, and they are still making money.

If you want to say, OK, add shipping, $3075 you could stretch that to, but these rifles also aren't what a guy would call normal production runs, so, does a guy feel compelled to give discounts on them...?

For what it's worth, I see what you're doing, and I consider it smart, essentially running 3 calibers in the same gun, setting each up the same, trigger pull, cheek welds etc... basically allowing you 3 calibers in a weapon you feel very comfortable behind because it is all you shoot.

Yeah I decided I'm pretty happy on $3040 shipped. I was looking at getting another LTR in .223 and after I factor in barrel threading on two LTR's, what a new .223 LTR would cost, on top of what I can get out of the .308 LTR and .300 700P; it just makes sense. Really is not costing me much more.

And you hit the nail on the head with my intent.

I paid $1001 for my 5R in .308 with 24" barrel from Buds Online. I think $3040 shipped for all three is a fair price.

They are a bit overlapping. If that's what you want, its your money. But they aren't night and day difference. The .223 will get you quite well to 600 yards, or a bit more. The .308 will get you to 1,000 quite well. The .300 will get you to 1500.

Looks like you're suggesting two calibers are so much better than one? (.308 and .300 Win are both .30 caliber). I'll be honest, I shoot my 6.5 a TON more than anything else. You'll find the same is true once you get into shooting more. And like we said...you've already got two rifles that you aren't really "upgrading" much if at all over an LTR and a P. For fuck's sake, you said you've never fired your .300 700 P.

I like the deal it all sounds good to me.but for me I would push for a 26" barrel on the 300wm and a 24" barrel on the 223.you will be able to gain speed that way for the two.but thats just my thoughts.

I too have all three.and really love them.

Gunbroker sellers are making about $75.00 on threaded barrel models which is an accusport exclusive. The others can be bought from other distributors I assume, but are no cheaper at accusport.
