Tikka advice

So I just picked up a T3X in 25-06. I plan on shooting it as is for a while. In the meantime I will be looking for a 280 ai barrel. I’m not too versed in how rebarreling compatibility works. This is where y’all come in. I’d like to keep the weight down as this is going to be a hunting rifle. I’d like to keep it under 7 lbs as the my 3-12 LRHS will add enough weight as it is. I see there are only a few prefit barre makers out there. Do other companies make barrels for the T3X? What are my options to make it a 280ai? Thanks in advance.

280AI? curious. you might consider using a switch barrel technique like a bar-loc or a switchlug round version. There was also a barrel nut out that would work for this I think.

I would call LRI or PVA. The 25-06 is a good deer round though. I would probably shoot the barrel out first.

There are only a few Tikka prefits avaiable and tend more towards the medium to heavy barrel profiles. Pva makes barrel nuts and barrels not sure if they already have the 280ai reamer but I believe these are medium Palma and heavier profiles. There is also criterion they may make something lighter profile. Every once in a while a hardy carbon fiber wrapped comes up in the post exchange but they are definitely on the pricey side.

snarkscarbine from Dallas Rifles is the distributor of Hardy barrels. They make a Tikka Carbon Fiber prefit. Give him a shot.
