Queation for you tikka owners. If I buy a Tikka lite in 300 wsm can I put it in a manners stock cut for a CTR bottom metal and use the factory bottom metal with it? I’ve found 300 wsm rounds will fit in the CTR mags but don’t have as much of the case head exposed above the feedramps. Just curious if anyone has tried this before? Thanks.

I don't see why you shouldn't be able too? The mags may take some tinkering but I don't think it would be to bad?

I've read somewhere they are different but I have both, compared them and they are IDENTICAL. You can swap stocks between them, the only thing you need to do is to take out the mag retaining clip from the regular TX3.

Awesome info. Thanks guys. Guess I’ll give it a shot and turn this thing into a wsm. I have an extra 308 bolt I was trying to sell but maybe I’ll keep it so I can have the ability to rebarrel to a standard bolt face in the future

Width wise the double stack CTR mags will be fine. Only limitation will be mag length for OAL. If you want to run the heavies and maximize OAL you will need to convert to long action magazines and bolt stop.

We gotten this question a lot lately. Here are some additional options...

Solution 1... Use a Accuracy International .338 AICS Magazine (3.715 length). The ribs are shallower on their 338 Magazine than their 300 WM Magazine

Solution 2... Use MDT AICS 300 WM or 338 Magazines (3.715 length). The ribs are shallower on both of these compared to the Accuracy International 300 WM AICS Magazine.

Solution 3... Use Sako/TRG 42 Magazine. The double stack mag accommodates the cases very welll. Essentially creating a long/magnum action CTR

Our AICS Bottom Metal will fit in factory stock and accepts any 3.715” AICS Magazine. Our Tikka TRG Bottom Metal will not fit factory stocks.

Great info and thanks for all the pics. The load I plan on running is the Federal TLR 200 grain. Here’s a pic and as you can see 6 of them fit in the mag just fine. I was mostly worried that due to the larger diameter case that not enough of the case would protrude for the bolt to catch it. Sounds like that’s a non issue. I’m praying tikka comes out with a threaded t3x model in 300 wsm at shot show this year to save me from having to get it threaded. A thicker profile barrel like the ctr would be nice too. I appreciate everyone’s help. You guys sure know your stuff.
