Tikka T3 300 win mag Magazine length?

I am wanting to make a hunting rifle, in 300 wm. I am looking at the Carbon six pre fit 300 win mag. I am wanting to know the length of the Magainze. I am hoping to be able to load 190-210 grain bullets in it. I am trying to see what the MAX OAL that i can load in the magazine is.

If you go with mount tactical bottom metal you can get 3.60 max oal. If you want to load 300 win mag long to get the most out of the cartridge I would recommend a true long action and a remington 700 footprint for more options with stocks, mags, bottom metal, etc. I also wanted to make 300 winmag work in my tikka action but went 7mm rem mag with a carbon 6 tikka prefit. 3000 fps with 180 berger hybrids is as good or better than a slow 300win mag with a bullet pushed back in the case.

I ended up with oal of about 3.5 with the 7mmrem Mag chamber that carbon 6 reamed in the barrel. That is with the berger 180 close to .010 inch from the lands.

Looks like my oal with the 180 berger touching the lands in the carbon 6 was 3.467 inch if that helps.

Had one in a manners t4a with CDI bottom metal , max I could use was 3.550" due to action restriction .

Netherless it shot well with 190/208/210s loaded "short " I would personally have something like a 300 wsm in a tikka

Page 110 of the tikka thread had some good info for longer oals. V notching to get over some of the action restrictions.

The factory mag on my T3X 300 Win mag allows a max OAL of 3.371”

It kills me how short this is. Most new bullets are 3.5-3.6 OAL. Companies stay so far behind the curve. Remington is still making 223 and 22-250 with 1-12 twist barrels.

Yeah I think I’m going to rebarrel mine to 7SAUM with a proof sendero Light 8.4 twist and run the new Hells Canyon SAUM billet mags.

I had the same issues and concerns. I pulled the little metal tab out in the the front of the mag and gained 20-30 thousandths. I then took a triangle file and took out as much as I dared take and leave it strong, I think I got to 3.450... ran it like that for years, no problem. Wound up selling it this last spring to fund a custom build.

Well I wanted to complete a tikka build and I just don’t think it’s going to work. I think I am going 700 long action of some type. With the mdt bottom medal and magazine. It has an OAL of 3.750 which give me the room I need to run 208-210 30 caliber projectiles.
