i don't consider myself a recoil weenie (340wby and 7stw un-braked haven't bothered me albeit in heavier rifles), but the t3 i had in 300win mag kicked like a friggin' mule. anyone know how much if any the felt recoil has been lessened in their t3x?

anyone have any feedback on getting their t3x threaded (what size) and a brake that may work well (300wsm is the plan this time)? thanks!

If you want to thread it, I believe you'll be limited to 1/2x28 threads (assuming we're talking about a Lite model). I have a T3X SL in 300 WM that I threw a Witt Machine clamp-on brake on, and a Limb Saver pad, and I could shoot that thing all day now. Something to think about if you end up not going the threaded route.

There are a few threads regarding threading the T3's/ T3x and the consensus is there is not enough meat on a t3/x sporter barrel to thread for a 30 cal. Even if you chop it down (which will decrease velocity etc), still not enough. I have both 300WM and 7 rem mag . I have found the limbsaver airtech to be pretty effective. Also it does not increase length of pull that much. On my 300, I use a bit heavier McMillan stock.

the link below is the type, make sure to get the correct one for the Tikka oem stock.

Which T3X are you talking about?
yeah it's the t3x lite stainless. something for next year's elk hunt. the knock on them is not threaded/no brake, and 1-11 instead of 1-10 twist rate.

never felt recoil while hunting but it can suck while getting dope/practicing, just hoping to limit that some.

1:11" rifling twist seems to be the standard for anything .30 caliber in Europe - and that includes anything from sniper rifles to short range moose guns.

Sounds like any threading is a no go for the Lite barrels in a 30 cal. I'd go with the limb saver pad, and if that's still not enough recoil reduction, you can add a clamp-on muzzle brake. The clamp-ons certainly don't have the same cool factor as a threaded brake (I think mine looks funny to be honest) but man do they take the kick out of a lightweight magnum.

With the lite barrels, I had tbac make me some 30 cal 1/2-28 flash hiders and would thread and install them (since there was nothing to time a brake against). I used these on around 10 rifles, tikkas and savage pencil barrels, etc. Worked fine for a suppressor mount.

I just had my t3 lite cut to 19 inches and threaded 1/2-28 for a brake. Works fine so far (50 rounds) but I did leave enough length to chop it again if there were issues. Accuracy is still excellent.
