Tikka T3X CTR in KRG Bravo Feed Issues.

Just put together a CTR in a KRG Bravo action and am having feed issues with it from AICS magazines. The magazine does not ride high enough to allow the point of the bullet to ride up the feed ramp. If I push the magazine higher in the mag well, it will temporarily allow the rounds to be high enough to feed but with the slightest movement the magazine will drop down again and the rounds again are pushed into the flat part of the action below the feed ramp. Any ideas on how to corrrect this?

I am having the exact same issue- same rifle and stock I just put together. I only have an Alpha mag on hand that does not work. I contacted KRG and they said to try an Accurate 308 mag, so I have one arriving later this week. They had not tried it with the new 6.5 Accurate mag yet. I'll post the results here if the Accurate mag fixes it. Bummer- I really like the short height of the Alpha mag.

What mags are not working for you- are they made by AICS or aftermarket? Wondering if its worth it to convert it back to take CTR mags. I have a pile of spares for my TRG already and I like the height of that even better.

Talked to KRG and they said I could loosen the trigger guard assembly retention screw and adjust the position of the trigger guard which will affect how well the bottom metal holds the magazine in alignment. This seams to have worked. Doesn’t feed very smoothly, but does seem to feed now, whereas it didn’t before.

I was having similar problems with my Bravo. After trying AICS and Accurate mags I sold it and bought a McMillan stock. I’m able to use tikka mags and they feed perfectly.

I have a Tikka in a Bravo chassis using AICS mags (5 and 10 rounders) without any feeding issues. My best friend have a Tikka Bravo too using Accurate mags without feeding problems.
Just go to the Bravo thread and you will find many Tikkas using Bravo chassis and none have feeding issues. The only problem reported until now is the bolt hitting the cheekriser at some heights.

At this point we have many many chassis out there and I can tell you that the feeding problems we hear about are generally magazine related or operator error. The geometry of the Bravo between the action, chassis, and magazine is the same as the X-ray and W-3 and has been set for many years now. That's not to say it's perfect, just that it's been working.

On T3's it's usually that someone doesn't take the spring clip out from between the trigger and action before they bolt in the action to the chassis. For magazines, well you can google search the different mag brands and there are some that repeatedly have problems. Right now we recommend Accurate and AI mags although we haven't tested the MDT and ARC mags too much.

Mags in general are problematic. It's just the nature of stamping and welding sheet metal and the interaction of the round with the follower, spring, and feedlips coupled with the interaction between the mag, action, and chassis.

A good first step is to try a different brand of mag, one that is not brand new and has worked in other rifles with the same action.

Hijacking this old thread.

I have a KRG Bravo incoming for my Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 Creed.

Which aftermarket magazines should I buy?
I here about MDT, Magpul, AICS,... ?
I don´t care if they are plastic or metal, as long as they work (1.) and are not to prizey (2.).

Any recommandations?

Any mag I've bought I always tune it to run smooth. AI, Accurate, MDT's, I always smooth the feed lips and adjust them so the rounds present correctly for smooth feeding. It's not hard but you need some trial and error to get them working well. Sometimes a mag just sucks and it goes in the practice pile.

KRG recommended MDT poly mags for my T3x .223 Varmint/Bravo. They feed fine, there's a slight amount of magwell length adjustment via the trigger guard hold down bolt.

There’s a huge difference between.223 mags and .308 mags when it comes to fit and feeding as I understand it.

-For now it's best to avoid Pmags with the Tikka T3 action, regardless of brand of chassis. Supposedly you can trim the feedlips to get it to fit up in there but long term durability of that mod is unknown.

-The Accurate Mag versions are a good clone of the true AI mag.

-For .223 the MDT mags seem to be working, I run an Accurate mag metal .223 mag in mine.

-Virtually every mag is slightly different in size, even in the same brand, so they will all fit differently

-for new metal mags, hit the inner feedlip edge with a fine file/sandpaper and polish it up where the brass case rubs against it to smooth feeding.

What I am thinking?

You should make your own mags which just effortlessly run with your stocks, or get your stocks done so that they would accept original mags, or install different bottom plates for different rifles, or ...

If I buy a stock, I want it to do what all my guns should be supossed to do:
1. Work just fine.
2. Work just fine.
3. Work just fine.
4. Being precise.
5. Looking good.
6. Work just fine.

As said previously, all “Non-AI AICS patterned mags vary slightly in sizing”. As such, no chassis is absolutely guaranteed to run flawlessly out of the box. At some level, you have to tweak your gear to make it flawless.
