Hi everyone.picked up a tikka tac a1 in 6.5,put a you dave spring and adjusted it as far down and getting 2.5lbs pulls.the factory trigger feels great but I am used to around 16-24 oz triggers.anyone have the Timney?i see it is adjustable to 16oz on second stage but wondering if i want to adjust my wallet down $220.

You have a 2-stage tac a1 with yodave spring and it's only going 2.5 lbs? That feels odd? Someone else in the Tikka T3 thread mentioned his is adjusted to < 1 lb.

On my T3X CTR, I have it adjusted @ 1lb with the yodave spring.

So either you have a defective trigger, or you installed the yodave spring wrong (maybe put the plunger in backwards?)

On my other Tikka, I ended up having a defective trigger, where it wouldn't go lighter than 2.5 lbs. Some people formulated it was a safety concern and Tikka has started shipping triggers with safety measures, but calling Beretta they said they'd warranty it. Only problem is that I have to send everything back and wait 8-10 days.

So for this long weekend, I purchased the Timney for $180 at redhawkrifles (price shows when you checkout).

I love the 2-stage Timney :) But it should perform equally to your Tac A1 if the spring/install etc was working correctly... My Timney is at 8oz 1st stage, and 8 oz 2nd stage (1 lb total pull)

Nope... didn't want to spend $300 on a new trigger. I am just not sure from where I see this Timney where the Bix n Andy and Midas triggers will really be 2x better.

I think if you were really particular on the placement / angle of the trigger shoe, those might offer more customization, but I'm pretty happy with my Timney.

So I feel like there is a lot of odd bias when it comes to the Timney T3 trigger... I have a Tac A1 in 6.5 Creedmoor and replaced the factory 2-stage with a Timney T3 trigger. I was running the Tikka factory trigger with the Yo-Dave trigger spring for 3 years before I made the switch a month ago and here are my thoughts:

The stock Tikka trigger is a fantastic trigger. Mine broke right at 2 lbs consistently and was super crisp. Even with the Yo-Dave trigger spring it was damn near impossible to get below 2lbs safely without breaking a shot. I primarily shoot PRS matches, so if you're wearing gloves, on a barricade, or just have adrenaline pumping - the Tikka trigger below 2lbs is a bad idea due to a majority of the pull weight sitting in the first stage.

The Timney definitely solved this issue. The trigger shoe is really nice and it has all the adjustability you'll need. Installation is super easy. Out of the box it was right at 2lbs and the 1st stage is super soft. The wall is unmistakable even with gloved hands. The break is fantastic. I didn't tweak over travel or any of that. I did take a 1/4 turn off of both stages which brought my total pull weight down to about 1.8 lbs and haven't touched it since.

My opinion is - if you're really looking for that extra pristine feeling trigger you can't go wrong with either the Timney or KRG Midas. They're both next level triggers compared to the stock Tikka 2 stage.

I have the TAC A1. My trigger beaks cleanly and consistently at 1lb for over 3500 rounds. I put Timney on a Rem 700 for over $200. It breaks at 1.5 lbs. Timney is a big plus compared to the REM trigger. But not as good for me as my Tikka factory trigger.

I tried a Timney two stage and did not like it in my Tikka. I think the Rem 700 version is much better.

Any of you guys want to trade a factory two stage tikka trigger for a 5rd .308 accurate mag? I don’t know what a factory trigger would be worth.
