Who makes triggers for Tikka t3x. KRG and Timney, anyone else?

the factory trigger it a bit stiff, so does the Yo Dave spring really cut down the pull weight or am i better off replacing the whole unit?

Also I want a FLAT shoe.... please tell me this is possible..

Hey There, I have a Timney for Tikka 2 stage in one rifle and a Tikka Tac A1 with a YoDave spring upgrade. They both work excellently! I tuned the YoDave to match the pull weight of the Timney. I can recommend them both it just depends on how much you want to spend:)

The main difference I note between the set ups is the follow through distance after the trigger breaks is considerably longer. With the Timney after the trigger breaks the Stop is right there. This provides a lot of control on follow through. Where the Tac A 1 trigger needs to travel further which results in a less controlled feeling at the grip.

I had a flat face timney ce 2 stage, it came on a rifle. The trigger itself suck, gritty and lots of creep in 2nd stage. The flat face does not lend itself to consistent trigger finger location. Have finger higher or lower changes perceived pull weight/trigger travel. Both are not good for precision.

I have the cheaper springs from mountain tactical that bring the pull down to 1lb 3oz.

I have since pulled my factory trigger apart and polished everything to ~10 micron and replaced the spring with a 0.156" OD x 0.016" spring and put a button head bolt to allow more adjustment for the set screw. This has allowed me to get 2 of my triggers down to like 8 oz if I am running the bolt as fast as I can on actual ammo (firing pin will drop if I am slamming the bolt as hard as I can). I run it at about 12oz now and can't get it to drop at any time now.

Where can these be purchased?

Brownells as a Special order with the Sako part number: $440 ( yup, just a lil dearer then a YD spring! )

I know you know this however just for other’s clarity be aware these are a bottom mount safety. I milled my Atlasworks BM to allow for trigger adjustment and Safety tab access.

Yes they are “The Tits”!

Good point on dbm fitment. The complete trg triggerguard/trigger/mag release drop in and fit perfect in a krg w3

I haven’t tried that combo.
I do have a Midas Btm Sfty trigger going in a KRG W3 Gen6 however I had to send the trigger back when a press fit pin came loose. KRG are making it right tho. I’ll compare the two and report when I can.

Word is that trigger tech is coming out with a single stage next year. Let's all hope.

They need to do a two stage this year!

The yo dave spring will help. I've had 1 of my 3 Tikkas that came with a factory trigger that was quite a bit heavier than the other 2. If it had been my first Tikka, my opinion would have been much lower of the factory trigger. I put the YD spring in and it lightened up a ton.

My other two got down to near 1 lb with just backing out the adjustment screw on the factory spring.

I agree the tikka curve is very light compared to other factory triggers. There really isn't a great reason so spend $300+ to switch it out IMHO

Okay so I have a Timney on my Ruger American and I love it. but heres the thing. I also love a two stage. On the timney how low can the second stage be set? Can it go below 1#?

I see that if you mess with the Yo Dave some are saying you can get the trigger into the ounces and its a very good option for the price but if im going to go that low I do want a dual stage trigger, just in case if I take my son or my wife so they can get used to it.

Not even going to get into the “how light is too light”, accident waiting to happen, discussion....

if its a consistent 12 or 14 oz than I'll be fine. its a bench gun for now while I learn the fundamentals of long range DOPE. once I get more in tune with that then I'll change the caliber and trigger....

Sweet redemption, lol.

Back to top, the tikka trigger is pretty good in stock trim or with the spring upgrade. I've had a hard and wasnt impressed with break, kinda long and creepy. I think the wallet friendly 2 stage is the krg, or spring upgraded factory tikka trigger.

Is there any difference in the take-up of the first stage between the 2 triggers?

I currently have a Tac A1 w/ the Yo-Dave spring. My issue is with the first stage on the Tac A1 trigger. Once I get around the 2lb range, the first stage makes it tough to find the wall compared to a friend's Trigger-Tech or Bix-N-Andy, and every once in a while I pull through it. I'm wondering if the Timney T3 would give me that adjustability have or if I should just increase pull weight and leave it be.

Not just for you but for others that might have a tikka trigger that isn’t the best. I had one of my 4 tikka triggers that had a deformation on the corner of the trigger that caused me some issues.

That trigger would never get down below about 2 pounds even when I put it in another gun with the same aftermarket spring/plunger that would go down to ~1lb. I ended up having to take this one to a real stone to resquare it. I then polished it and it will hold down to that 12oz range now.

Not sure how the MIM will hold an edge on that one but it is now at least useable. I say this because people say that MIM is not able to be reshaped because it is only hard for a very small amount of depth.

That being said if anyone that changed triggers and doesn’t want it anymore I would love to section one and test hardness and depth of hardness. I would do it on one of my triggers but I don’t think I am gonna change them out now that I have taken the time to polish them. PM me if you are willing to donate one.

I dont know what the mechanism is of the Tac A1 trigger, but if there is a single adjustment point, I don't know if it is possible to adjust it enough to get the second stage to be that distinct at that weight. I tried looking up photos of the TAC A1 trigger and I cant tell how it works. Maybe post a few high res photos and I can suggest something. Otherwise the Timney with the ability to adjust both stages independently it should work better for you.
