Wanted to see if anyone else had this issue with their Timney Daniel Horner trigger. I just bought the trigger today, got home and installed it. I have built many ar15s, most being very high quality builds. So I know how to properly install triggers. After installing the trigger into a Noveske Gen3 lower, I put on the Mega MML upper and went to function check it. With the rifle point up and pulling the trigger, sounded good. Then I cycled the bolt and pointed the barrel down at the floor and pulled the trigger. At that point it felt and sounded like the hammer hit the lower. Did it one more time and same thing. So not wanting to damage anything, I removed the upper and inspected. I think that the way the timney trigger hammer is designed it is allowing the hammer to contact the lower before hitting the floating firing pin the the fully forward position. You can see the impact mark on the trigger. (I confirm the mark lines up, but I notice the viewpoint might look differently). There is also visible impact marks on the lower.

then I grabbed my other Noveske Gen3 lower with a Geissele SSA-E and took a comparison photo of the hammer design.

Just wondering if anyone has seen this before as I searched online and couldn’t find anything. I took it off and dropping it off to my buddy’s shop where I bought it and getting another SSA-E.

Did you ever get this resolved? I’m having the same issue with the same trigger

I just had the same issue.
After installing, fired 20 rounds - didn't detect anything unusual. Started to dry fire and within a few releases, the hammer started hitting the front of the trigger well. I could hear the difference - maybe it was doing it during live fire and I couldn't hear it happening.

The other problem I had was there is no way to get an allen wrench to turn the second stage adjustment screw. There's cross pin at the top of the access hole that prevents the wrench from turning.

Otherwise, I did like the way the trigger felt and the slight roll to the second stage.

Toss it and get a Triggertech or Geissele. My gunshop let me return it, but my buddy is the manager so….

Brownells took the DH3 back. I had it just two days.
Timney says they have redesigned the hammer but it's only available in a new model that has a fixed 1 1/2 lb second stage. So, that's it for Timney.
Currently running a Geissele HSNM set at 1lb 13oz first stage and 10oz second. I've found right around 1lb 12-13oz first stage is as light as it will go and still reliably reset.
I've had 3 TT Diamonds in the past, each failed or started adding weight between just a few to 500 rounds. Sigh. TT refunded all three, but I got gun shy.
That said, just bought my fourth TT - my bad luck just can't hold out.
