Can I get advice on cleaning rods?
I am using Mike Lucas bore guides. AR-15,223 and a Sako,300wm.
I have a Tipton carbon fiber 36" 22cal cleaning rod (.208" dia)
that fits very well with the ar-15 bore guide but with the 300wm bore guide there is a bit of play.
Would the 300wm bore guide work effectively with the thinner rod? or should I get a .250 dia rod?
Thank you in advance for not blasting me on asking such a simple noob question.

Go ahead and spend the money on a 30 cal rod. You might want to get one long enough to reach to the muzzel before the handle hits the butt plate. That makes it easier to keep the rod straight.

If your like me and only use dewey parker hale style jags, the only thing in contact with the barrel is the patch. How much force is that going to take. No more then my 308 and that's not much. If you have to push that hard where you think your going to break a carbon fiber rod by pushing on it, then you should look at your barrel cleaning procedures.

I will get a .250 rod for the 300wm. Why use a bore guide with a thin sloppy rod! I just need more time to think about it and less time posting about it!

Thanks guys
