TL3 firing pin issue?

I have 2 Zermatt TL3's. The last time I was at the range, the one on my .308 had a few rounds that didn't go boom. Thought it was bad ammo, but it's Prime and I've had no issues before. Now I suspect it's a light falling firing pin?

Today I had them both out and noticed the firing pin on the one I had issues with isn't protruding as far as the other. Is that maybe the problem? If so, what caused it and how can I fix it?

L = good. R = trouble.

Top = good. Bottom = trouble.

Not sure if anything here is out of whack or not. Top is the troublesome one.

I have one that is giving me grief, it is on a 22 creedmoor, I was using Lapua small primer brass. I was having hangfires and not firing using the federal match AR primers.

I switched to the Hornady LR brass and have not shot enough rounds to detect a problem.

You should measure between the back of the firing pin when cocked and de-cocked, and make sure that number is approximately the same. Also make sure the firing pin makes it all the way to the front of the ramp. Probably worth disassembling the bolt and making sure no crud or grease got into the body or pin hole.

If that doesn’t seem to do anything, call ZAI. Ive heard their customer service is solid.

Zermat is super easy to deal with. My guess is they’ll evaluate and repair (if needed) painlessly. Reach out to them.

I’ve had this happen on my origin. The firing pin loosened up from the cocking piece. If you remove the set screw from the hole on the cocking piece, and then loosen the set screw below that, you can screw the firing pin back in and tighten everything back up.

I’ve had this happen on my origin. The firing pin loosened up from the cocking piece. If you remove the set screw from the hole on the cocking piece, and then loosen the set screw below that, you can screw the firing pin back in and tighten everything back up.

Can you pull the firing pin on the troubled bolt out and try to spin the shroud on the pin? If it moves, you may just need to remove the two set screws (1/16" Allen wrench) and tighten things back down. If it doesn't move, just let us know and we'll get a replacement and a return label heading your way.

I checked my bolt and the shroud does not turn or spin. I did not do anything on the adjustment as I don't want to make the problem worse. It has not had a hang fire using the large primers yet.
