There are several choices for muzzle breaks for a Rem 700 308, and I've read great reviews on the Badger FTE brake at reducing felt recoil for watching hits and faster follow up shots.

I suppose my question is if this large brake is too much/overkill for what the 308 would require.

Has anyone shot the FTE and another smaller brake and felt little difference between them?

I had one on a LTR (came with gun). It worked great but, is bigger than necessary IMO. I also use the RAD brake from R&D precision. Works great and is of a reasonable size and price.

Looks and works great on my .308. Dont have a picture handy, but it's a 22" varmint profile in an AICS. Great setup!

Does not change accuracy. It will allow you to feel more comfortable behind the 300 wm. I usually back bore the rifling past the threads, but its up to your smith. I have seen several remingtons improve thier accuracy after installation. This may be due improved comfort or improved crown. I would not build one without a brake.
