I just picked up a used Anschutz 64 Silhouette. It looks clean and I was told it shouts in the low .2s
I was thinking of taking the barrel action out of the stock and examine/ clean the gun before shooting it.

Do you know what’s the recommended torque setting?
Thanks

IIRC the recommendation is 4Nm (about 35 inch pounds).

But.........I have been told by "others" with 64 action rifles not to put even 4Nm on the screws, instead to start much lower at about 12 - 15 inch pounds, and only snug tighter if actually needed......and do not compress the wood unnecessarily by attempting to put the Anschutz recommended torque on the screws.

Same thing mentioned by some owners of 54 action sporters, they seem to get better accuracy at much lower torque settings (10-14 inch pounds).

Its an older rifle, Its one of the single shot 64 silhouette rifles. With the stippling in the stock. Its nice saw it today athe the f/w gunshow.
I would leave it in the stock and shoot it before adjusting it.
If it shoots don't fool with it.
I had one just like it and I found 20inlbs -40inlbs was all that was needed. You need to try it at diffrent setting to find the correct settings.
Cleaning get a bore guide and a 17 cal rod and some 22 rf patches and some solvent onlt no need to use a brush. Just need to keep chamber clean and check for leading every few hundred rounds.

Sounds good. Won't take it out of the stock then. At the same time, I will eventually need to take it out to clean and oil. Right? Btw I already have a Dewey .17 rod
