Weapon RPR 308 Stock
Scope. Burris 4×20×50 Hours 591

So after zeroing for 100 yds I reset my turrets. Then elevated to stop at 16.5 mils. The Burris has zero stop and 26.2 mils of elevation adjustment. So did I just lose 9.7 mils????? Or did I not do something right.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that after zeroing the scope you only have 16.5 MILs of adjustment. If so, that's pretty normal. The 26.2 Mils of elevation is the TOTAL from top to bottom. Theoretically if your scope zeroed for your rifle was in the exact center of the scopes adjustment range, you would only have 13.1 MILs of "UP" adjustment.

So to get more out of scope then I just need to have more MOA taking out some where??? Yes Im aware of limitations of 308. But just making sure that I understand this whole process. I have found 40 moa base 11.85 mils for the Ruger.

Also why can't we stack a 20 moa mount with 20 moa rings??

You could stack a 20MOA mount with a 20MOA base, but it could potentially 'top out' that scope so to speak to the point where you may not be able to get a 100yd zero. Give us some more info on your mounting set up. Does the RPR have a 20MOA rail from the factory? What rings/mounts are you using? etc...

FWIW 16.5 MILs is plenty of adjustment for use with a 308. Also, why worry about the limits of your adjustment if you're using the Horus reticle?

Yes to what MWM-5150 said this is normal. If you want to increase you overall travel you have to options. First and easiest buy a 1 piece scope mount with built in MOA. 10 MOA mount will give you back just over 3 mils and a 20 MOA will give a little over 6 mils. Second is change out your rail. Most replacement rail are 20 MOA so you get the 6 mils back. I have an AI-AE it had a flat rail so I replaced it with a 15 MOA rail and added a 20 MOA mount so after I zeroed I have 22 of 26 mils of travel available

Yes the Ruger is stock with 20 moa rail. Went with LaRue LT120 0 moa. And just to make sure about the out come of the adjustments. Why add is because my next purchase may be something in the 300WM. And more than likely another Burris. So understand that I am thinking right is helpful.

Thxs for the info. I wasn't going to max it out.

When you go to a 300WM you will want a min of 30 MOA to max the scope travel. I shoot my 300WM out to 2000 but can only dial to1830 which for my 300WM is 23.1 mils. If you can spend the extra money the NF ATACR has 36 mils of travel.
