TOZ 78

Old post but interesting subject because I still shoot my old Toz 78-04 actively. 22lr is budget choise to train and in those terms I have build my riffle. I mainly shoot in 150m range which translates to 600m with 308. Rarely I have field exercises with toz.

I have pillar bedded it in Tikka T3 lite stock, fitted adjustable buttplate, bipod and molded pistol grip. I have tiltable 2 parts scope mounts and Vector Optics Veyron 4-16x44 MPR-V5. It's not definitely not the prettiest sight but its not dumb if it works.

When I first got toz I used mainly Lapua master L. Now when I started shooting again I have experimenting SK ammo and at this point after Stantard plus, Rifle match and Long range match, Long range has been most consistent. In 150 meters I get sub 50mm groups pretty easily. Just the other day I was shooting with a guy with CZ 457 Long Range Precision which did not perform nearly as well.

Training with a budget is possible and after shooting my Frankenstein's monster I am usually only positively surprised after shooting with a "real" gun.
