    Hey all,

I find myself having a rifle which needs glass. I'm not looking to buy something right this moment but at the very least, I'm starting to look at options.

Rifle is an FN SPR in 308 with a 26" barrel. I don't really have a use for it but sometimes I can't resist buying some rifles. I suppose the use for it will be general plinking. I may try a prone match that goes out to a 1000 yards just for the heck of it too.

Ok, so I'm hoping I really don't go over $1,500 and would still prefer to spend less. I own one sig Tango6 4-24 and really like how big and bright the image is. Idk how to describe it. I'm sure my minox zp5 has way better resolution if I put them side to side. However, the image on it (zp5) looks so small and I really hate that.

I'm considering another sig since I already know I like it but am really curious in trying something different and new to me. I always like exploring other glass.

I'm considering Tract, either in 4-25 or 4.5-30.

    Considering tenmile in 4.5-30.

    Considering maybe a steiner t6 in 3-18.

And just maybe considering a mk4hd in 4.5-18.

Can anybody comment on any comparison between any combination of these scopes? I would really hate to buy a scope and find out it has a huge black ring around the image taking most of the viewing space up and leaving the image looking so tiny.

    Thanks,

    Serg

Had a Credo 2.5x10x56, glass was great, no parallax though
So switched to AccuPoint TR26 2.5-12.5x42 and it’s pretty slept on just in my opinion.
I’ll be completely honest though, my Steiner is my favorite.

This AccuPoint looks really interesting. There is one for sale here in the same mag range you mentioned. I almost snagged it but then realized it's only SFP. Looks like it could be an amazing scope for a hunting rifle.

It is probably mine I posted and genuinely if I wasn’t doing everything I can to start my business, that thing wouldn’t be going anywhere.

With a .308 rifle with a 26" barrel, I would consider an intermediate expensive scope like a Bushnell 3.5-30×50. All of my scopes have either the Horus H58. H59, tremor3 reticles. Yeah, all my scopes are in the $2500 to $8500 ranges. The $8500 is a Schmidt & Bender PM II 5-45×56 w/ Tremor3 reticle. It's on my .338 Lapua that has a 28" barrel. It has no problem tapping the targets at 2,000 yards.
    The other Tremor3's are: NIGHTFORCE ATACR 7-35x56;
    EOTECH Vudu 5-25x50
    The others are H59s.
They're all for ELR. 1 is for hunting the Burris Eliminator 6 4-20x52

Yeah I know. I have a thing for hi end glass, but I don't have March scoped- yet

Sig weapons suck, so I wouldn’t even consider any optics with their name on it. Personal opinion.

I’d save up $200 more and get this, over any other option you have listed… The MIL-XT reticle is the best reticle NF offers.

Didn't this scope suck? I remember hearing and seeing comments about depth of field, parallax, eyebox, etc all being finicky. It's been a while now so perhaps things have gotten better. I would still think the 8x erector is going to be conducive to some issues.

I'll head over to the NX8 thread and do some research. I'm curious to know what the reticle is like at lowest and highest mag setting.

Not to my knowledge… I have a buddy who has one, and a 4-32x50… Both are nice scopes for their price.

Also, I have an ATACR F1 5-25x56 MIL-XT, and it’s an excellent scope. The Mil-XT reticle is phenomenal on low and high power.

I have a Credo 2.5-15x56, yes, it is SFP. It is a dandy scope, the elevation adjustment is a bit spongy. I have considered removing the Oring to see if that helps, but it doesn't bother me that much. The windage on the other hand (capped) is very crisp. I love the reticle.
I also have a Leica 2.5-15x56 very similar in all respects to the Credo, except the elevation adjustment is very crisp. Glass is a wash. reticle is better in the credo. The windage adjustment is very wonky, but I don't dial windage.
I also have an Athlon Chronus 4.5-29, I'm vey pleased with it, cameraland has them on sale with a set of rings that come in just under your budget:
    @gr8fuldoug
My favorite is the Sightron SV 4.5-24, but, sadly they don't make that anymore.
The Tract options are very nice, as well as the Maven and Delta Stryker (just a bit over your budget)
If you want to pinch pennies, then the Athlon Midas Tac is very hard to beat, no illumination though, if that's important to you.

I have the Tract 4x25 and its excelent for the money, you just missed the 10% off sale but theyll likely have another 04 July. After I bought the Tract I got a good buy on the Athlon Cronus BTR gen II 4.5x29 and like it even better, better eye box and better clicks on the turrets. My ONLY complaint is that the turret cap screw is 3/32 but the ones for the zero stop are 1.5mm. WTF? Why not make them both in the same standard. I'd recomment the Atholn and someone has one for sale on the Hide for $1200. I'd grab it unless you want to pay a lot more for a little more.

Forgot to mention... If you contact the guys over at EuroOptic, like @Euro.Connor, they can probably get you a new Zeiss LRP S3 4-25x50 ZF-MRi scope for about what your budget is... It's a hell of a scope for the money. I have a 6-36x56 and it's excellent. I'd honestly put it up there with my Razor Gen3 6-36x56.

You just missed the Zeiss Spring sale, which has massive discounts, but they might can still hook you up if you call and talk to him or Brandon.

How is looking through it? Does it have a large black ring around the image or is the image mostly large with minimal ring?
its got some ring around the image, more then my swfas. I dont really notice it but if its a thing for you, you probably would notice. dont know if this helps but i was taking some pics bc i was going to list my 4-24 tenmile sfp for sale so might as well post. the 4-24 is a little less pronounced than the 3-18 ffp
