Who has a Trg w a Nightforce 50mm scope using Factory TRG three ring base? Can one use the low model,will it clear the bell/barrel distance? thanks in advance.

I have the 3 ring Optilock medium on mine with a 5.5-22x56mm NF, and there's about a 1/4" gap between barrel and objective lense. I would do the math on the height difference between med and low, and the 50mm and 56mm objective, and see if there is enough room. I would think the low would be ok to use, but do the math to make sure.

ok thanks Chad,i will look for the specs on height on both mounts to compare and calculate but its possible the low will clear.

I have a 5.5-22x56 in a medium three ring mount, but I had initially ordered the low mount which cleared the objective bell with about a millimeter to spare (a little too close). Therefore I would think the low mount would clear the 50mm objective.

Sako has the specs on their website. They say the low mount should work on a bell that is, at most, 60mm in diameter.

I have a NF F1 (50mm) on the TRG-42 with the 3 ring mount, medium.
The low would work, but it is very close and you would not be able to put the rubber cover over the front objective without a bit of hassel.

Thanks for the information, may have saved me going down the wrong path as was looking to order the Sako low mount. Currently have the Sako medium triple ring that came with the TRG-42 (one of those package deals on a rifle that had not been fired / put together - came with the Sako long rail and medium mounts). Reason for thinking about the low Sako mount for the 56mm NXS was to get a better face weld with out the use of vertical spacers on the stock (they work well but get in the way of removing the bolt).
As always, photos are appreciate.

Thanks for the information, may have saved me going down the wrong path as was looking to order the Sako low mount. We just got the Nightforce NXS 5.5x22 56mm mounted and with the sun shade and rubber Nightforce lens cap, the medium mount is about correct and with out the lens caps, the mirage strap fits wells.
Thanks again for the info ... and waiting on photos after the Wy shoot out west ;-)
