trg 42 questions

I am still kicking the sako idea around... and while i do i would like to know what kinds of mods you guys do to them ? do you get the barrel threaded ? do you ad a badger knob on them and take the round one off ?

custom barrels ? bed the actions ? talk to me fellas lol fuel my fire

There's not much that needs to be done really. Get some cheek piece spacers, LOP spacers, and throw on an optic and bipod and you'll be a happy man. Add an Elite Iron brake to make it a soft shooter.

You can also go all out, different barrels, folding stocks, enhanced mag catch, etc, but I wouldn't know about that stuff

no way.. surely these guys deck them out like remington 700's i though their would be all kinds of cool gizomos for them

Barrel is threaded from the factory. No need to bed the action. Nothing wrong with the factory bolt handle either.

Massoud pretty much nailed it. Put some optics on it, adjust the stock so it fits you and go shooting.

if you must tinker you are going down the wrong road, that is the beauty of the trg system, great action,stock,trigger,mags, bipod. the only thing that needs to be done to them is to clean them every couple hundred rds and put on new barrels when you shoot them out.

You can pretty much get everything you need from the factory. Threaded barrel, brake, and bipod. Folding stock vs. fixed. Not much you need to do with it expect to add a scope. Very accurate and durable. Built from ground-up as a military long-range precision rifle.

As others have said, the TRG needs no "tinkering". To me, it's pretty much perfect the way it comes. The Sako TRG isn't a like a stock Remington 700, and for the price it shouldn't be.

I'm kicking around the idea of selling both my rifles and just buying a TRG in 300 win mag. It'll get me anywhere form 100yd to a mile, It's comfortable from prone or bench, nothing needs to be done to it, barrel length is good for tactical shooting and bench shooting, and my list goes on... It has all the capability of shooting sub 1/2 MOA with good handloads. Like others said, tinker with reloading not the gun. My favorite part about the TRG is that no matter when or where or what the situation, I know I could grab this rifle and it would perform the task worry free. Slap a USO or Nightforce on top and you have a bullet proof set-up. Literally.
