I have somewhat of a simple question. When in prone, with my trigger hand on the grip of the rifle, should I try to prevent from resting the weight of my arm onto the grip through my fingers, or let it rest and put downward pressure on the front of the rifle?

It needs to pull the rifle into the shoulder pocket... any pressure off axis, left right, up or down will cause a problem.
Straight back into the shoulder pocket... otherwise recoil will exploit the error.
