Triggers!

I am looking to change out my stock Remington 700 trigger. I am looking at the Triggertech Special single stage and the Timber Calvin Elite two stage. Can anyone ched some light on the pros and cons of both a single and two stage trigger? Which would you recommend.

My rifle isn’t going to be used for hunting. Pretty much target shooting only. I do plan on trueing the action when I rebarrel and will probably drop it into a nice chassis later on if any of that makes any difference.

personal preference on single vs 2stage.

Single the bang is right there as soon as you need it.

2 stage adds more of a mental check in the first stage and can help you get your head settled in the process of firing. 2 stage also lets you go a bit lower safer...If you practice proper safety/trigger discipline though both can be brought down crazy low.

I've used both...both have their perks (wouldnt even call them advantages). Just see if you can find people with both types and dry fire each and see which you prefer. You can also just say F it and get the Geissele 700 trigger which can be configured for either by the user.

I actually have a Geissele and it’s a beautiful trigger. I can’t seem to find a whole lot of people running that particular trigger online that are reviewing it. Everyone seems to like the two I mentioned. I do like the idea of a trigger being able to do both though...

It’s fairly new so not a lot of info on it.

So many nice triggers to be had these days.

I have a Huber 2 stage for my next build.
Would also like to try the new Tubb trigger.

TriggerTech doesn’t have a two stage yet so they’re out for me and the Calvin elite seem popular.

I've yet to use anything from Geissele that isnt well made...if you have the 700 trigger I'd play with it a bit and see what you like.

If you decide to change triggers you should also look at Bix' N' Andy triggers. Bullet Central sells them and its one of the best triggers I've ever used. Comes in single or 2 stage, changeable trigger shoes and either Pro or standard versions depending on your pull weight range preferences.

The whole single vs. 2 stage trigger is solely personal. You'll have to try your self
I've had 2 stage on AR's and didn't like as much as a single.
On my bolt guns, only run single. Have had a Timney calvin elite for a couple years
no complaints, breaks crisp and no slop. Just picked up a Trigger Tech diamond
haven't run to many rounds with it, but so far it feels better than the Timney CE
It has an external adjustment. So once installed, you can adjust to whatever you want
Will go lower than the Calvin Elite, if you need 4oz. vs. 8oz. Never read a complaint
about the Trigger Tech Diamond

I'm in the process of swapping a CE flat shoe 2-stage for a Geissele. The CE is not a bad trigger, but I found the back wall to be a bit too mushy for my taste when compared to my Anschutz 5098 trigger. The Trigger Tech 2-stage is on my list for whenever they start taking pre-orders.

Another vote for BnA 2 stage Tacsport trigger. The single best gear decisions I made in this sport (precision shooting/PRS) is going from a single stage TT trigger to a 2 stage Tacsport.

A 2 stage trigger gives you much more trigger control over a single stage trigger. This not only translates to more hits on targets, but you can also safely run a lower trigger weight on a 2 stage trigger, if that's your preference.

I've got several Triggertech Specials and they are excellent but I'm now waiting for the new TriggerTech 2-stage trigger that is supposed to be released in Q2 this year according to Mats from TriggerTech at SHOTShow 2019.

...and then some, especially here in the Western states. Desert, arid, to semi-arid climate with lots of sand and dust. Their frictionless, maintenance free design delivers the bang for the buck (pun intended) regardless of how dusty the wind blows, when other triggers begin to choke.

That’s what I’ve been reading. Some guys out in comps are now running trigger tech because their high end go to triggers are tapping out because of dust and debris.

The Trigger Tech and Bix'n Andy will give you the least amount of drag on your cocking piece. Trigger drag on your cocking piece will typically open up groups due to inconsistencies in ignition.

Both of those companies offer great products and I would focus on them.
