I have a Trijicon ACOG on my colt M4 and love it to death!!! Anyone hear anything about there longer range 5-20X50 Mil Dot scope with green illumination? I am interested in maybe picking one up but don't know enough about them. Let me know what you know.

Re: Trijicon 5-20X50 Mil Dot?

I have one exactly like you are asking.

Pros:
1. Great glass
2. Tritium illumination - no worrying about the battery
3. Decent knobs
4. Tough tube
5. Best value among illuminated scopes with good glass

Cons:
1. Between 40 to 50 MOA of elevation travel
2. Mil Dots are a tad big but makes sense for a night optic since they are easier to see in low light
3. After comparing it against my Zeiss and March, I think my main gripe is the fov is pretty narrow

This. But the glass has been good on the few I've looked through. No idea on repeatability though.

Re: Trijicon 5-20X50 Mil Dot?

I have the 2.5-10x56 model on a hunting rig and for that application it works great. Zeroed at 200 and have a dope sheet out to 600 for holds at 2.5x/5x/10 etc. As others have said - for a long range rig it is limited in elevation. with a 20 MOA rail you can help it a bit. Depending on how far you wanna go and what round your using would factor in. I can't speak to repeatability as the model I have has hunter knobs and I leave it set to a 200 yard zero, it holds it fine.

Re: Trijicon 5-20X50 Mil Dot?

I have a 3-9x40 on a compact hunting rifle. I really like this scope. Best part is I got it for free. The glass is amazing and everyone else that looks through it loves it as well, The clicks where spot on when sighting in. I had the opportunity to get a 5-20 bnib for $800 but it had amber and I really wanted green. i keep kicking myself for that one.

Re: Trijicon 5-20X50 Mil Dot?

I have been looking at these for a while. Glass is very nice and its just feels substantial but not in the same way as a PR or USO meaning its not heavy.

If you have a chrono run he ballistics and see if it has enough elevation for your needs. Also factor in that you can use those dot things on the crosshair in conjunction with the dialed elevation and bases are easy to find from 0-30 MOA as well.

Re: Trijicon 5-20X50 Mil Dot?

I own a Trijicon 5-20x50 Mil-Dot with the green illumination. It is sitting in a Warne 1 piece mount ontop of a DPMS 24" LR.308 with a Wilson Combat single stage and Magpul Prs.stock. The glass is very clear, the internals on the dial are brass and metal, no plastic. I have only been able to put 60 rnds down range with it and it holds zero shooting 168 FGMM. I wont be shooting past 500 yds so the travel is not a issue for me. With the rain I have not been able to really get out with it and test it. The rear dial by the magnification ring turns so that on a bright day you have the abilty to control how much of the glow you get from the trijicon. Its a very sturdy scope.
