I have a relatively new SRO 5 MOA that has intermittent dot issues. Curious if anyone else has had a similar problem that might be a simple fix before sending it off to Trijicon.

Mounted on a Sig P320 with a PMM dual port comp. I mounted it to the factory slide RMR mount. Screws are torqued properly and witness marked. The first 200 rounds were zero issues. Recently the dot likes to disappear randomly while firing. The dot will come back on it's own. Holster it and it will come back after a few minutes usually. Draw and fire sometimes 1-2 mags and no issue, then later maybe after 3 rounds it does it again. I check the sight to make sure it's still tight, no movement. Try adjusting brightness and nothing. Lower the pistol then check it again and the dot will be back. Really odd to me.

I checked to make sure it wasn't in the "Auto" setting. Tried turning it off and on, called Trijicon and the grumpy tech guy told me that they had a bad run of Duracell batteries and to make sure it had an Energizer installed. I opened the battery cover and it had an Energizer from the factory. Changed the battery to one that was slightly thicker (.125") and same issue. Inconsistent dot. The optic doesn't appear to have moved at all, screws still tight. No obvious issues from looking at the contacts for the battery.

I have two SRO and several other dots like an original RMR, ACRO and a couple of Holosuns. It's not me losing the dot from poor grip or anything like that. It's just off and on randomly.

I sent my early serial number 5 MOA back to Trijicon last year because it died on me. Tried a fresh battery as well and nothing. Mailed it to Trijicon and the repair notes said new circuit board and new window (glass). My glass was fine but I guess they did a rolling change on it some time during the later models.

Send it back. The optic being loose or tightly screwed to the slide has nothing to do with anything.

    Trijicon will get it fixed

Send it back to trijicon, they'll take care of you. I had a similar problem with one where I could temporarily solve the issue by cranking down the battery cap a little tighter, but it still eventually had to be sent back.

@Bantam1 I'd do one last check to make sure the battery lid isn't cross threaded and is screwed down all the way before sending.

I’ve had two SRO’s die on me and Trijicon repaired or replaced them with no issues. Both of mine went 4+ years before going TU, but you may have gotten a lemon. I’d contact CS with the serial number and they’ll send you a shipping label. Turn around on both of mine was approx 5 weeks.

The first one I received did not work out of the case. I had to return it and got this one as a replacement. My first SRO is about 3 years older and zero issues with thousands of rounds.
