Hey folks!
I'm looking at getting my first tripod setup. I had the chance to shoot off of 2 different RRS tripods, one with a leveling base and Vice, and the other with the anvil 30. Overall, I immediately fell in love with the anvil 30 head.
I can't drop the kind of cash RRS would like for their entire tripod setup. I want to justify it, but I simply can't do it. Budget for me is going to be around $700 for a tripod setup.
I'm around 99% certain I am going to end up buying an Anvil 30, for the fact that it's rock solid, mounts to pic and arca, and supports RRS. I can also toss this head onto any tripod I choose because of the screw attachment point.
I've seen the 90c thread, and though interesting, the packed size makes it less of an option for me, as well as the conversion needed to get it solid. Not really my jam.
For tripods, I've done a bit of homework, and I'm considering the below criteria:
-Smaller profile base/apex, more like the RRS anvil tripods. Packed size also is nice.
-Carbon Fiber, around 4 lbs. Would like to hunt with this.
-Suitable to shoot 6.5cm off of.
I think I've narrowed it down to the Leofoto LS 364-c and LS 365-C. I've read reviews of people using the older LN series, but those had full bowls. The LS series seems to use the same legs, but come in with a narrower apex.
What are overall thoughts on going with the RRS Anvil 30, and mounting to one of the above Leofoto tripods? Are there any other tripods in the same form factor, weight class, and price range that I need to be considering?
Thanks in advance for the help!
