Yes it's still me looking for a scope.

I was looking at the Bushnell 2.5-16x42 tactical scope. Model 652164T

After reading the optics section and the replys to my other mil moa post I decided to down grade and purchase a lesser expensive scope so I could get a Leica 1200 range finder.

(I can't afford what I want, a range finder and re roof the house all at the same time.)

I figured the range finder would help me fine tune my range estimation and with the Bushnell 1 year return guarantee it would be a good deal. I could save up, return that scope and get what I wanted within the year.

Then I read the Bushnell literature and it said their mil dots are based off of 1/6400. Of course we all know thats wrong. So the question is should I complete forget about any mil dot scope that is based on 1/6400 or is there some math (theres got to be) I can use to correct for their error?

How big will the error be at say 800 meters?

Am I over thinking this?

Re: True mils versus the rounded up version.

You may safely ignore the difference in the reticle specification. The difference is about 1.9 percent, but that difference is in what you will measure with the reticle, not in what the scope adjusts in. And no one can accurately measure an object with the reticle to that level of accuracy.

And you have a little ethical problem. Only a skunk would buy a scope intending to return it after using it when they knew it was unsuitable for their ultimate purpose.

That error, sir, you should not make.

Re: True mils versus the rounded up version.

I guess I should have been more clear on that. I would return it if I didn't like it. I've got other things I can put it on if it works and holds up to some standard abuse.

I had doubts on a pair of Bushnell binoculars before too but I bought them anyway and they turned out great. I'm very skeptical of lower end optics and the Bushnell scope may hold up great and be a fantastic piece of glass and then again it may turn out just good enough to not throw away. In that case I would take them up on their no questions asked guarantee and return it.

That is not skunk like and I take offense to the comparison. with that said after rereading my first post I can see how you may have mistakenly come to that conclusion.

Thanks for the info on the 1.9 % difference. Using that number its only about a 45' difference at 800 yards and I think I can live with that.
