Rifle Scopes truing up zero

I have searched all over the place for this and did not find anything. I thought I read some where a long time ago, that when you zero your rifle (say 100 yrds) you should back up to something like 300 yrds or so to true up the zero. Is this correct?

Never heard of that. If the scope is mounted correctly and mechanically sound, once you get your zero at 100 yards you shouldn't have to true up anything.

Hey are you talking about finding the true zero rang of your rifle?

I think what you have only heard part of is to find the true "accuracy" of your round you should test it at 300. It has nothing to do with the scope, it will either dial correctly or not.

I not sure, what do you mean by "true zero rang of your rifle"?
Like I said, I forgot where I seen this cause it was a long time ago. But you might be on to something.

I am not sure I understand it, I think you would have to accomplish the procedure once or twice to see if there are any results. I know that the bullet intersects you line of sight twice once on the way up and the way down. 223man Let me know if you do this and if it helps you out.

Ahhhhhhh,

What you are looking for is a Point Blank Range Zero. In other words out to XYZ range all you have to do is hold center and send it. Kind of like "zero it 1" high at 100 yards".

Zero your rifle at what ever distance you desire and learn to dial or hold from there.
