He then highlighted heinous crimes, ranging from murder in general to criminals pushing passengers in front of subways to baseball bat assaults to violent home invasions of elderly folks.

“I don’t want these violent repeat offenders in our country any more than I want illegal aliens from other countries who misbehave,” Trump said.

“And I say, and this is subject to getting it approved, but if they’ve been arrested many, many times–they’re repeat offenders by many numbers–I want them out of our country,” he added. “I also will be seeking permission to do so.”

I think there would need to be overwhelming evidence that the convicted did in fact commit the crime. It seems at least once a month we find out about somebody wrongfully convicted. We just learned of a lab tech charged with altering DNA evidence in a lab, imagine if many of those were wrongfully convicted and sent away, never to be heard from again. I know the odds are low, given that most of those convicts did what they did, and the convictions are righteous, but we live in a society where the lines between justice and truth are blurred by prosecutors who are more concerned about their conviction rate than ensuring they get the right guy.

this is a good point considering the incompetence,corruption,resume building and outright lying common in police and prosecutor's depts. this applies to US citizens IMHO. illegals are illegal and should have no rights whatsoever. their felonies should require a lower level of proof. penalties should be more severe,essentially capital for ANY violent crime. deportation not a good solution.
the problem of how to determine guilt is an old one and ongoing. always been my opinion that the system here has nothing much to do with guilt or innocence. lawyers,cops,judges playing games is about all our system is. the really bad thing about that system is when an innocent is accused and run thru the system. likely ruined financially,having an arrest record and being stigmatized forever.
not much justice in our system for the victims or the innocent,just a lot of slack for the guilty.
