They are refusing to give additional funds to the USPS in the latest round of Covid funding

In the shadow of the Loop Clark Street U.S. Post Office Friday, Sen. Dick Durbin issued a call to support the U.S. Postal Service financially.

"If we don't make the PO service work for the good of America and invest the money to make it happen, it will not only have an impact on our economy but our democracy," Durbin said.


Durbin and others urge the USPS to reverse operational changes to improve service and for the Senate to appropriate money to the federal agency.

"Everyone else needs help, what's to say that the postal service doesn't need additional help," U.S. Rep. Danny Davis said.

A meeting of the Postal Service Board of Governors Friday morning revealed financial challenges for the agency, as there is more demand for labor-intensive package delivery and increased absenteeism during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We remain on an unsustainable path; our current path doesn't allow us to pay our current bills, let alone new ones," Post Master General Louis DeJoy said.

Got something in the mail yesterday that pissed me off.

The "Green" electricty cooperative has been trying to get me to sign on for their service for a year or so now.

They make no power, have no generation capability, basically just buy power from those that do in supposedly a "Green manner" than want to "sell" this green power to me.

Like they can ensure the electrons passing through the copper wires entering my house only come from a windmill while the carbon pushed electrons by pass my home.

They guarantee more expensive power for the chance to put a unicorn and rainbow on your soul.

The first time I was contacted this was an "opt out" program meaning my town was signing me up for it unless I sad no. I promptly said no and figured better to be fucked by the devil you know rather than the devil you dont.

Yesterday I got a post card from them addressed to my 13 yo son.

If he would send the post card back they would send him a $100 online card for signing up.

So my 13 year old son, with an online gift card habit used to buy Fortnite skins and other stuff, had I not intercepted the card would likely have mailed it back for the $100 card.

I dont know, strikes me as intentional, strikes me as based on intel of his computer/shopping history, strikes me as "Fuck you".

I completely agree, I was just arguing his point about mail boxes being removed. In person voting as a standard is the only way to go. Sure, absentee ballots should be available, but they must be requested by the voter.

Just to let everyone know, my dad died in 1999 and he received balloting information for 6 or 7 years after his death. So, I'm sure that meant he was still on the records to vote. Yes, this is in a Democrat controlled state.

Not true. All these thing were done. All government agencies were notified of my father's death. Federal, State and Local governments were officially notified by my family lawyer.

The damage in trust to our voting system has been done...No matter who wins the White House this year, the loser is going to claim the victor cheated.

I will give you a dimes worth of my two cents.

Every legal vote should count. I doubt you could find a man on this site who disagrees. Also every illegal vote should not only not count, they should not even exist. Oregon's system is a well established system. No one can say there has been no fraud, because people are not allowed to truly look for it. Why? Because they don't want you to lose confidence in the vote. That is what exactly causes me to lose such confidence.

Find the fraud, expose it, prosecute it and I will have lost little confidence in the vote. I lost that long ago. That confidence will begin being restored when I see justice start to happen. I am not chicken little. One bump in the head did not begin my lost confidence. It took many. The voter sky really is falling.

A case in point. Michigan, Trump won by like 20,000 votes. The left screamed recount. But something funny happen on the way to the recount. The ballot did not reconcile. Mich just happens to have a law, no reconcile no recount. Odd law at best. See if you were rigging elections, you would want it to stay rigged, correct? So they pad the numbers and low and behold you can't eff them in a recount.

But the Trump victory was so over whelming they were unable to create so many fake votes. I think this is partially due to that Trump placed people as poll observers in key cheating places. So they were unable to stuff the ballot in extreme. Do I know this as fact? No. But I do know the first count did not reconcile. Thus effing the Dems with their own law.

If I am wrong why did the Dems not challenge the Constitutionality of that Michigan law? They tried everything else. They did not want to get caught under the guise of maintaining election integrity. So Voter fraud is real and rampant. DHS got a handle on it when they took over. So the Dems changed the system again.

Wake the eff up. Voter fraud is real and I as a voter want it stopped. JMHO

There's problems with mail in votes for sure. There's also problems with in-person only; it would force those that are immunocompromised, like the sick and elderly, to choose between in person voting or not voting at all. No good solutions for that other than mail in votes.

I think Louisiana allows mail in ballots by request, not automatic.
My town NEVER has a line, there is no issue about being in line at 8PM and still getting to vote at 10PM.
If I had to stand in line for hours and hours and mail in was an option, then hello Mr. Postman.
My 88yr old FIL is perfectly able to run his rolator up the ramp and vote in person but this year has sent in the request for a mail in.

That's why most states have the ability for a voter to request an Absentee Ballot. If you know you can't make it to a polling location on election day, you can ask for an absentee ballot. The absentee ballot is requested and the voter is verified before the ballot is sent out. This is usually a very secure way of voting. Others who are afraid of being in a line to vote on election day can usually vote during an Early voting period.
