I really don’t know a solution to this problem. Balkanization is likely the only real solution if people can’t come to work together and I don’t see that happening either. Neither the Dems nor Repubs have any "bench depth" beyond the current candidates. Trump destroyed an entire generation of establishment on his way through the primaries in 2016. Obama left behind no clear protege, and so Hillary was free to do a slash-and-burn on her way through. If Trump wins, consider both parties dead other than in name only. If Biden wins, the Republicans will be left to do a reset as the Dems attempt to do an inter-generational power transfer to Harris (maybe it'll be peaceful, maybe it'll be a 25th-Amendment power grab).
The thing to recognize is that both parties are unsustainable in their current forms, and most voters would be better off if they simply went away to allow two new parties to form.

You're so right ... someone else should have moderated this. I'm sure if Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, or Laura Ingram had been there, the questions would have been much more balanced and insightful.
