Sucks to be this guy, but the law's the law.

My wife's best friend met her Dominican husband while both were in college. They got married before his visa expired and when it did he left for the Dominican Republic and visited as permitted on his visa applications until his permanent residency was granted. Then he went on to naturalize. He played by the rules and he hates illegal wetbacks who don't.

They both earned it fair and square and have my respect.
