My buddy and I are signed up to run the lite division at TTG Sniper Challenge in October. I know it’ll be here before I even realize it. Anyone have any tips for this event? He’s running his 700 AAC SD 308 and I’ll be running my 20” AR10 308 or my 16” recce (planning the AR10, but Murphy’s Law is always in effect). The recce has some good glass (PLXC) and can print moa or less with 77gr stuff. Currently planning the Federal GMM 175smk for the 308 as it’s done the best groups so far out to 200 yards, but I haven’t had the chance to stretch it out past that yet since I finished putting it together last year. I also still need a bipod and a bag for it.

My buddy and I ran TTG Sniper Challenge last year (and are going again this year), it was a blast. We came out of mammoth and probably had a little too much mammoth over thinking for this. From last year, the two things we may change are: (1) Last year we both had packs, I think we are going to go admin pouches and smaller carrier mounted stuff rather than packs. At least not two packs. (2) We carried G34s but we may go with our 2011s. Its not like we are hiking 35 miles, so maybe a little speed and distance accuracy would be nice.

We changed it up a little for long guns. My teammate ran a 6ARC gas gun and I brought a .223 bolt gun. That way both of us were solid out to 1k without issue, had less weight on us, but we still had a gas gun for movers.

Ya, I know he’ll be running his G45 and I’ll likely be running my 226 40 (I edc my 229 40 so it’s what I’m used to running). I’m planning on upgrading my belt and plate carrier this year, so I’m not sure what that setup will look like exactly. Although I know it will at least be similar to what it looks like currently just with some upgraded capabilities. I’ve got a few options as well as far as shoes go. I can either wear my runners or my keens. Do we have to carry all of our ammo with us throughout the competition like mammoth or just for the stage we’re on and then resupply after each stage? Currently we plan for him to be the primary shooter and I will be the secondary shooter since I’m going to be running the 10x max optic.
