turner sling

Re: turner sling

The Turner slings are nice, I have one and like it over all the military MRT slings I have had.

I have not oiled mine and do not think it needs it, they are not dry leather and have a finish already.

Re: turner sling

Turner makes a leather treatment, but you don't need it for a new sling. Just using it normally will break it in. They make great products and I have several of their slings. You made a good choice.

Re: turner sling

I've got one of the leather turner slings. Had it about 3 maybe 4 years now and I've never done anything to it at all. I imagine somethings like neets foot oil would soften it and make it stretch and it'd be harder to get get and locked in with it. Mine still looks almost new, just a couple of dirty spots around the swivels. I do remember turner selling some product from the company's website that was a leather product. I do not remember the details at all, but it might be formulated so as not to soften the leather.

Re: turner sling

i've heard it said that applying leather conditioners can make the leather too soft so that it stretches too much when slung up. because of that, i have never oiled any of my turner slings. they last forever and look better and better as they age.

Re: turner sling

I'm going to agree with you guys, the sling is amazing. i just sat on the couch watching the olympics for an hour or so and just worked the leather a little bit and it is already basically perfect. i think I'm king to just leave it alone and use it how it came.
another question: i have a bipod, essentially making the sling pointless from the prone position. am i going to look like a retard sporting a match sling AND a bipod? i mean shit ill still use it for seated or kneeling positions if needed.... reason i ask is i was already receiving torment from one of my buddies.

Re: turner sling

learn to use the sling well. start shooting NRA high power or service rifle. the sling is another tool to shooting well - i run both sling and bipod on my rifle. the bipod won't help you shoot over tall grass, but the sling will.

Re: turner sling

I have the Turner National Match slings on the service rifles I use for high power shooting. I obtained them from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and have done nothing extra with them...they are wonderful! as shipped. Being 6'1" with 36" sleeves, I use the 54" slings...they have definitely helped in my target shooting.
