TVP Ultimate Payback $5000 Intimidator Challenge

Shooters,

TVP has decided to give back to the shooters in a way that should motivate the best precision shooters on the planet, and those that desire to be.
We are offering a FIVE THOUSAND DOLLAR (75% payback of the pot total to a TVP member and %50 to non-members) pay back for whoever can break the elusive perfect 160 score on our world class steel course THE INTIMIDATOR.

The details are as follows.
First off I haven't enforced our membership here TVP.
Due to the improvements we are making with our new steel courses and the upcoming addition of the new 100 and 200 yard line to the south/right end of the building we are forced to make some changes.

Starting April 1 TVP memberships are $50.00 per year.
Membership is good one calendar year. If your a member you will receive $10.00 off ALL match fees including steel events and paper matches including sactioned IBS matches.

Starting March 20th 2010 all Intimidator entry fees for TVP members are $30.00 and non members are $40.00. After particapating in 5 matches as a member your savings have paid for your membership. Same with IBS paper matches. Also, range day rates (1 HR. or 8 hrs.)for members through the week and available weekends is $20 per day and $30 for non-members. Again, membership has it's advantages.

As for the $5000.00 payback for a perfect 160 score on the Intimindator..this pot will grow each match until the 160 barrier has been broken. Here's how.
Each Intimidator steel event the shooter must pay $5 if he is a member of TVP to be eligible to win the $5000.00 payback. If your a non-member you must pay $10. Again...the good part.
EACH INTIMIDATOR MATCH WE HAVE HERE AT TVP THE POT WILL GROW.
If no one breaks the record for a year...it's only going to get bigger. There will set no limit to the size of this pot.
After each match and I will announce how much the pot has grown so we know what we are shooting for next time.

Now for the range record. If a shooter breaks the range record you will receive $250 payback. The current record is 119 set by Mark Simpson of NC shooting a .338 LM
Again, members pay $5 to be eligible for the winnings and non-members pay $10. 75% payback members and %50 non members. This pot will continue to grow till the record is broke and at that point we will start all over with $250.00.

Unless my memory is failing me, the only way for a person to break 160 is to hit all 16 targets on the first shot and then hit the mile target at some point.

4 positions X 4 standard targets at each = 16 Targets Total.
10 pts 1st round hit
5 pts 2nd round hit
2 pts 3rd round hit.

So that means a person has to hit all 16 targets on the first shot to get the 160 and then also has to hit the 1650 yard bonus/magnum target.

Is my math correct here.

Shooters,

There are four stations... four targets at each station = 16 total targets. Bonus target is just a bonus but does not count for extra points towards perfect 160. ALL 16 TARGETS MUST BE HIT ON THE FIRST SHOT to reach 160 points. Yes.. mscott is correct, .338 and under. NO .338/408's etc.
All targets are 12"x12" AR400 steel. Furthest target is 1165 yards. All prone shooting unless you want stand kneel or sit. No benches. This course is out in the field so to speak. There are pictures here somewhere if someone wants to post them again on this thread for us. The ones Jon Addis made for us? Also, the time bonus obviously does not count for a perfect 160.

Please ask questions if you need I will chime time to time to help out.

That was a Bad Day and with the new steel I don't for see that happening again.
And if you only shot 6 times you did better than anyone I remember. I shot 10 times at 4 targets but I did hit one.

I understand the steel issue has been worked out, but are more than one position going to be shooting at the same time, or is everyone going to be playing grab ass while 1 guy shoots at a time in groups of four? Thats just to much sitting around doing nothing, given that each person has 10 minutes to shoot at 4 KD targets, 3 shot max at each.

I am just curious, and dont want to travel all that way, and have it turn out to be another "bad day".

Love the range, and course of fire, but I would rather be shooting that sitting for 4 hours before the first shots are fired.

Your basing your experience and your negative posts on the one and only match you attended at TVP. We have had dozens of these matches and ONE was bad..sorry you had to be here for it.
In defense..which a hate doing but you have left me no choice...I cant help you drove 6 hours nor can I control the subzero weather. The targets stems I made up broke to due to the sub zero weather they sat in for days before the match which I explained 100 times and apologized for why. The entire group voted to cancel the match so we did..because of obvious reasons and they shot from the benches. Some stayed till dark.
No one has ever waited 4 hours to shoot either. We have had 15-20+ shooters at several matches. We start at 10 am or so and complete the match between 4 and 5 pm. Another reason we started late that day you showed up is because we had SEVERAL new shooters show up and they needed zeros. Was I to tell them no? There have been several posts since then stating we will split up into two groups and meet at position 3 to speed things up. You must have missed those. We dont play grab ass here. I know how to run a match and hundreds of people over eight years can back me up on that. Also that day I did not enforce the time limit because of the new shooters..I wanted to give them a chance to get their feet wet. If we did not have the issue with the steel we would have gotten further. Like I said earlier..you came to one match. We've had dozens and NEVER had an issue. There will always be wait times period. Our time limit is 8 minutes for two shooters/team with a 10 point bonus for shooting under 5 min. EACH SHOOTER HAS ONLY FOUR MINUTES/8 MINUTES PER TEAM. NOT 10 MINUTES PER PERSON as you stated. There will be only two shooters/one team on the line like we've always done.
As far as travel time I must be doing something right. I have SEVERAL shooters who drive 2-8 hours ONE to THREE times per month for 8 years to shoot my matches. Hopefully your next experience here will be that enjoyable. If not I will give your money back like I did before. In all fairness your post would have made a better PM to me.. asking me. Especially for those who dont know the facts of that day and that are easily steered.

Thanks for the update on this Saturdays match. I agree with you in that folks need to learn to use the PM function before venting in public. January's match was fugly!

If anyone is interested I have on each 8lb jug of H1000 and varget to sell at the match. 135 and 150 respectly. See you all Saturday. As of today it looks like 60 degrees and sunny for the match. Varget spoken for.

So let me get this straight, your giving us 2 minutes per target, your giving me the range and your giving me the option of shooting a 338LM or a 300 with a 210 and the longest shot is only 1165 yards with the target size being more than 1 moa. I think Im gonna come out atleast two times this year. Just to be clear this is a prone match also with bipod and bag, yes? It really doesnt matter what it is but aslong as Im askin questions... Please respond so I can make arrangements to come and play. And thanks again for supporting the shooting community as we need more people to do this. See you soon.

SSG3K, the time is based on a 2 man team with the team having 8 minutes to engauge all 4 targets. The 2 man team alternate shots acting as shooter/spotter. Shooting is typically prone with bipod and bag.

I would much rather agree with YOU adhering to the rules of this forum in regards to selling items and post count to do such. Just because you list your item(s) hidden in an existing thread instead of the the classifieds sections doesn't mean you not breaking the rules.

Post count rule is to ensure credibility RIGHT? This guy is coming to the match with powder and giving a heads up for anyone in need of powder to bring extra cash. They can judge credibility themselves there.
Why post a for sale item in another thread when he is coming to the match? seems relevantly posted here.
Its not spam and hes not a vendor. I think it was perfectly posted.. Seems like the rule this time is one of those redlights at a lonely deserted intersection to me. Sometimes it makes sense to sit there sometimes rules are just plain silly. Hes new cut him some slack por favor. No harm no foul

Was up Rich long time no see. You need to shoot this course youll love it. Very ASC like. Prone w/ plenty of time. However the steel is alot thinner. Making Wind a big factor. And afterward there is a 600 yrd and 1000 yard berms to play on. And bring your 338 they do very well here it seems. Let me know what match your going to!

Theres no hitch and I don't consider it a gitty up. The $5000. STARTING pot was sponsored by a client of mine who wishes to see this sport grow and give shooters a chance to win some money.(this is how much he enjoyed shooting this type event) EVERY match the pot will grow. Hopefully to 10K or more.
Will there be a 1099? of course. This is a business and we HAVE to do that for tax reasons..especially the man donating it. So what? Do you see a purse that big anywhere else that someone is offering? If so let me so I can go win it. I could use it to expand my range for my shooters. There's no hidden agenda. All we are doing is promoting a world class steel course for all the precision rifleman to come and try their skill at. Let me give you and example.
I have had several world class shooters here including some very well trained PROFESSIONALS including current and former USMC 8541's. I 've shot with them and trained them in advanced precision shooting. NONE of them came close to getting a perfect score and most of them shot half the score of their instructor shoot...me. So with that said, it is very challenging but possible to shoot a perfect 160. No gitty up..just a challenge to the WORLDS best precision marksman to show what can do. Heck..just set a new range record for everyone to respect and try to beat. This pot could grow huge..VERY huge and the winner will get, as a member of TVP 75%...a non-member 50%. Even if you get a 1099...I'm sure you will still be glad with the profit you made with your investment and knowledge you leaned to complete such a task. And if you shoot a perfect 160..the last thing on your mind will be a 1099. You should be on top of the world and you would be considered a TOP SHOOTER to anyone who has ever been beat by the INTIMIDATOR.
We didn't have to offer this purse. Our matches are becoming so popular we may at some point have to take pre-registration.
We did it to draw more people from the precision shooting world to see what we have to offer. Once you shoot the course you will be hooked and will wish you would have done it sooner.
We want to see the purse grow and some lucky and skilled shooter can go home and say "honey..your not going to believe this". We want to have fun with this and watch it grow. You..meaning all shooters can come join us or just sit back and wonder what we are up to. Your choice.
Also, if and when you play the lottery and win, you pay taxes on that, everyone knows that. But you win millions for $1.00...
I'm not trying to be a smart ass and I have no ill feelings towards you or disrespect, please by all means come shoot with us. I just dont understand your text. All that needed asked was.."will there be a 1099"? It's my fault for not explaining that in my first post but we knew it would come up and I would handle it then. I hope it's handled. The hitch being some sort of odd wind or angle, nothing more. The gitty up being the match it's self, an open challange to "All" shooters to try it at least once. Granted the 5K payout puts you in a class above most others(save a few M/G an Trap shoots)which will help promote the skillset.

I believe you were reading a little more into my post than was really there. Thats not the first time that has happened nor will it be the last.

I didn't read into anything.. it's plain to see. And you continued with your reply. It's sad you follow me around and read my posts/replys and come to that concluesion which is wrong. It's guys like you that make RANGE OWNERS want to close the doors. If you dont want to part of what we are doing and have something good to say about what we are doing.. go way and dont post anything on our thread anymore and I could care less what your opinion of me is. If your so educated on my posts then you would have known what the course of fire was and all the obvious answers to your first post. If I get huffy because of a post there's all ways a good reason. Shouldnt one fill out a 1099 on every cash prize, everwhere?

On May 16 there is an Intimadator match, is there camping on or near the range if a couple guys wanted to come down and shoot around on Saturday, then the intimadator on Sunday?

Can shooters/range members shoot from the intimdator positions on normal range days, or is it only from the benches? I am just not familiar with the set up/rules there, and just curious if the whole range would be open if we came down a day earlier.

Please dont take my last posts personally Tom, and the grab ass is what we were doing, I never meant that you were grabbing any asses, and not trying to speed things along, the time teams had left was being monitored and reported to them, so things were moving. Its hard to type or convey sarcasm on the interenet.

Like you said, it was the day, and conditions, and there is no doubt about that. If you say that was an isolated incident, thats cool, thats why I came down for the January shoot. I have never read anything bad about any of your matches, so I have no reason to doubt your match running, and would like to give it a go a couple times this year.

Yes, as a member you can shoot the Intimidator on normal range day Mon-Fri and non match weekends for $20..all day. Yes, you can shoot the Intimidator on Saturday if we do not have a "Gauntlet" match. I will let you know ahead of time the details there so you can plan. If we do shoot the Gauntlet we should be done in enough time you and others can shoot the Intimidator course. Yes, you can camp here for free primitive. There is firewood if you want to make a fire at the pit or at my camp site on top of position one. If you ever decide to come on a weekday give me a heads up and I will take you through the course and shoot with you. I will even give you some pointers if you want them. Hopefully your next visit here with us will be a more enjoyable experience than the last. I'm sorry for that. No hurt feelings here.

I think you have to give 1099s for winnings over $1000. I remember 3 years ago in a golf scramble our team of four guys won a total of $5000 for first place every one on the team got 1099's.

I'll tell you what come shoot the Intimidator. I hope you set a new course record of 160. If you are worried about paying the taxes on the money dont be. I will be more than happy to collect the 1099 form and put my name on it as long as you give me the $5000 dollars.

I cant answer this because im not Tom, but I know of several matches at Thunder Valley that people brought tents and campers and spent the weekend.

I see your websight with lots of tactical gear, why dont you bring some of it down and sell it at the match? Im sure lots of the shooters will be interested.

LOfuckingL, I am not even thinking about winning nothing, just shooting. If I hit all the targets I would be happy, I dont want to set any pre-concieved notion that I am even an above average shoote, aand will take all the instuction and practice available, hence the questions.

For those scared of the 1099, I am no tax expert, but ponder this...IIRC it works for gambling proceeds...if you have winnings that are subject to income tax, your EXPENSES in obtaining those winnings, may very well be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

Win it and you may be able to write-off that new build!!! (please consult a tax professional before taking my half-assed advice)

Short course on sunday:
I am coming (Steve ) and bringing one friend (Eric) sunday short course only. Cant make Saturday due to other obligations.

Both Eric and I have been to TVP multiple times, but havent shot short course yet. See you Sunday. Ill be representing with a stock DPMS LR308
