Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Hide
You could hear the bolts locking, as they were pushed to the side
The rifles were steadied from the prone with great care
In the hopes they could hear steel ring through the air
The rifles were nestled firm and snug in their rests
He felt His heart thumping deep in His chest
Spotters with scopes, friends filled with cheer
If you hit on the first shot, they’ll buy the beer
Then arose the mirage and a big gust of breeze
So He pulled on the trigger, smoothly with ease
And out of the muzzle came a big flash
Please hit the target, for beer I’ve no cash
With time almost frozen as the bullet flew
It was gonna hit, He Knew, He just knew
With his eye open and locked on his scope
His heart pounded, while doubting his dope
Then He saw with his eyes, and heard with his ears
The sweet ringing of steel, and small lead smears
It the best new rifle ever, the best in my life
Then started thinking, got to hide it from wife
More rapid than Ban Cat, all shooters came
Calling his buddies, He called them by name
Now 1J! now Barney! now marine PMI!
Oh Veer! oh lowlight! oh Sihr! and Blue Sky!
I need you to help me, or I surely am dead
You can hide it outside, they all clearly said
They were no help, he could see his own doom
He knew he can’t make through his living room
He knew in that moment his life was at risk
Will she strip search? or will she just frisk?
As he brought it in, through the back door
She gave the look, that made his jaw hit the floor
She saw it clearly, and spoke like a shrew
He quickly said it was old and only looked new
He thought had he dodged the new rifle blues
She said it’s ok, in her new thousand dollar shoes
So the moral of the story is don’t live in fright
And Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night
You could hear the bolts locking, as they were pushed to the side
The rifles were steadied from the prone with great care
