Gunsmithing Twist Rate For .338 Lapua

Re: Twist Rate For .338 Lapua

Okay....I feel silly posting on the same thread as cut rifled and NotAGuru, I know their resumes....however, I'll throw in my 2 cents.

I've heard the 1-10 is better for getting a little more speed, 1-9.3 or 9.4 will let you stabilize a longer bullet like NAG is talking about. I've really thought hard about getting a gain twist barrel, starting 1-10 and ending about 9.2 or even 9 if possible.

Digging through old threads, the comment about a "gain twist" barrel intrigues me.

I thought about it a few years ago and thought it would be really a neat idea but I couldn't think of an easy way to make it. Does anyone out there shoot them, how do they handle?
