I purchase 5 gallons buckets of mixed brass from a local PD range. I have a daughter with cerebral palsy who absolutely loves to help with whatever I can find, so I made a brass sorter for her to use. The problem was it was one round at a time. Although she never complained, the process took quite a long time. Enter the brass sorter bins (www.shellsorter.com). A local company sells them, and I jumped at the chance to get a set. They are great! Although they are not as simple as dumping brass is and shaking (there is a technique), it's simple enough my daughter can use it, and it sped things up very nicely. Kudos to them!
On another note, I have been wanting to building a drying box for my brass (see the steel media thread). So, I went to my neighbors to see if they had any spare muffin fans. When the wife asked what I would be using them for, she asked why not a food dehydrator? Because I didn't have one. Turns out, they had two! I can't tell you how nice this unit is-- fill the trays with brass, set the temps, and go to bed. It is easy, and does a great job. So, if you have one laying around, give it a shot!
