In my opinion, if you are a new shooter, you should start heavy, like do a 2-2.5 lb which isn't even that heavy but heavy enough for you to practice proper trigger control and follow through. Then lighten it up as you feel more comfortable. Just don't add in bad fundamentals as you start lightening it up. If it's so light that you are scared of resting your finger and you're just slapping the trigger, then you need to start making the trigger heavier.
I started off with my T1X at 2.5 lbs, then down to 1.5lbs. I went through my class with Frank running a 2-stage .75/.75 lb trigger. I ended up picking up a TT Diamond just to start gaming a few more points in NRL22/PRS, and now have it set at 8oz/5oz.
My shooting partner who also runs at .75/.75 on his Huber 2-stage doesn't like my TT as it's too light. The 1st stage is so minimal on the TT that for him when he marries up to the trigger he sometimes accidentally has it go off. Though with anything it's probably fine with a good deal of practice.
