Two stage trigger?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what are the advantages to having a two stage trigger over a single stage?

I like (insist) on a two stage, I just feel more comfortable with it. But as mentioned above its a personel preference.

A 2 stage seems to be the only way to get a crisp light SAFE trigger out of a semi auto. Love my Giselles and my 10/22 2 stage.

Yea, thats the answer I was looking for. I had no idea trigger pulls could get down to .5 lbs, but I see the concept to make it safe. I'm still thinking I'll stick with a single stage on my first AR
