We are pleased to announce an amazing group of F-Open shooters who have advanced through several tryouts to become members of the U.S. F-Class Open Development Team.
<span style="font-size: 11pt"><span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">The Concept</span></span></span>
The Development Team concept was to form a National Team with shooters from all parts of the United States that we can draw from for International Team matches. Not everyone can travel at the same time and having a larger group of qualified individuals to draw from makes it easy to field a strong team at any given time. From within this group we will pick the best and create a final team that will represent the United States in the World Championship in 2013.
<span style="font-size: 11pt"><span style="text-decoration: underline"><span style="font-weight: bold">The “Testing” and Tryouts</span></span></span>
The U.S. F-Class Open Rifle Team has been testing and trying out these individuals since March of 2010 and shooters had to prove themselves under coaches multiple times at 1000 yards.
We held nine tryouts throughout the country in six different cities over the course of the last two years. The shooters were tested on their ability to shoot under a coach and hold vertical. We had minimum standards that each had to meet, over several tryouts, to be able to qualify for the Development Team. The process was very transparent with all shooters being able to view other shooters’ scores and targets. Everyone knew exactly where they stood and what they had to do to move up.
We are pleased that 28 individuals made it through to become members of the U.S. F-Class Open Development Team. Our tryouts continue on to the next phase and the top 18 (16 + 2 alternates) shooters from this group will advance to be on the final team and will represent the United States in the next World F-Class Championship in 2013.
