I am going to put a UBR stock on the LMT MWS 308. Magpul website says "custom short buffer and spring" may be needed for 7.62X51 rifle. Are these custom short buffer and spring needed to use the UBR on the LMT MWS? If they are needed, where can I get these?

When i called LMT about my MWS about switching to the UBR i was told i needed to change out the buffer and spring. i am looking into Slash's Heavy buffer and spring. I would contact LMT to be 100 percent sure .

I think it also has to do with the ubr tube is a AR 15 tube. so you need to switch to a specific buffer and spring that works with the .308 AR style.

I don't have the rifle yet i get it paid off next week. i just picked up the parts that i wanted to upgrade. from what i read you will like it. I also recommend picking up a Battlecomp Ba muzzle brake for it . if you are not going to suppress it . Look into Giselle triggers also. they seem to be what everyone likes to upgrade too on the LMT MWS also. I am decideding now on my back up sights . I am leaning towards KAC micro's or Troy flip ups. I did a ton and i mean countless hours researching before i bought my LMT you should like it. just like anything else there are lemons here and there but for the most part , These rifles are squared away. The last thing i am really stuck on is Glass for it . I don't want to put a huge scope on it . Wow! Sounds like you have your LMT MWS rig pretty well planned out! Should be a really nice one when it's all done. I am going to "steal" some of your ideas for backup sights and trigger. Save me many countless hours of research!
For glass, I already have a NF 2.5-10. I am actually thinking about selling this and buy a higher power scope. I know, it's going to add weight and it's not that good for shorter ranges ...

I want to set my MWS up for 6oo ish yards and in . if i do one of the scopes with a 10 power i'll stick a off set RMR or Micro T-1 on it. I am setting this up more as a battle rifle set up instead of just a LR target set up. if you are going for a LR target set up go with the PRS stock instead of the UBR . i think you will have a harder time if you put a big scope on it for cheek rise. I want a small scope low to the rifle . the UBR feels great though for red dots or small scopes. I am also looking around for someone to Dimple my barrel. I am going to have two set ups one with the BA comp on it with a dimple barrel and a back up barrel with a Can on it . That is another HUGE reason i went with the LMT . i love the fact we can swap barrels on the fly like that.

besides 5 pmags the Battlecomp BA was the first thing i bought for it. watch some videos on people using the LMT with one on it . That sold me right then . Also ask any of the guys that have one they will tell ya it works damn good. I hated the sights that come on it . you would have to have a scope way too high on a Mount to keep those sights on it.

I don't like the stocked sights as well ... probably just take them off and sell them.

oh man thank you that is just what i want on the dimpling . That should help with weight . these are very front heavy. plus i think the dimpling will match well with the rails.

I don't know what I am going to really do with it yet. The closest ranges with more than 200 yards near where I live is just too far. I also looked at the PRS stock but didn't quite like the "bulk" look and more added weight ...

I looked at the battlecomp ba brake a little closer .... I am already prepared to have to spend more time cleaning the MWS. Don't you think the "many small holes" on the Battlecomp brake is going to be a PITA to clean?

JP Capture Spring is simple to remove because it is one piece. But it also takes away felt recoil from the action of the bolt when firing. It makes you think that you are shooting a BOLT gun instead of an AUTO. It is not a big deal but it is nice.

Interesting. I didn't know there is a difference in felt recoil between semi auto and bolt rifles. Learn something new everyday!

Correct. At the risk of sounding cocky, if they told you the MWS uses a standard AR 15 buffer and spring, they are wrong - it would not function properly if that were the case. The Slash heavy buffer will work, as will the Emdom, but they are not necessary. The buffer and spring in the LMT MWS SOPMOD stock are designed for .308 carbines, and will work in the UBR-specific buffer tube/receiver extension.

You should play with the trigger you have in the lmt first. It doesn't feel much different than the ssa-e's that I have.

With the 308 platform, the longer BCG needs more room to recoil backwards and thus needs a shorter buffer for proper function. Having the Slash CAR10 allows both proper length and weight. I have a UBR and CAR 10 setup on my MA Ten and couldn't be happier. Would definitely get this set up on a MWS. The stock is phenomenal.

I am definitely going to shoot with the stock trigger for a little bit first before forking out $250 for another trigger. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm pretty sure UBR is heavier than PRS, but UBR better looking too
1kOrBust, I hear you man nowhere to shoot for distance around me either. We have to go to Sierra Nevada's for that or all the way down to Coalinga to use bro's LEO range thats out to 1000. I'm in SF Bay Area. What I did is I got a higher dollar 6x variable & then a less dollar 12x (SS 12x42) fixed for when I get chance to shoot far out there. But I've been using the 12x for 100 range too, actually since I got that I haven't put the
6x back on. When I can I'd like to get a USO SN3 1-10 to replace the USO 1.8-6.

Actually, the UBR is about 0.2 lb lighter than the PRS.
Regarding the higher power scope ... with aging eyes, larger dots are easier to aim than smaller ones. I much prefer higher power scope until I have to move around.
