I asked SAC if the Ugly primer seater would work on the nexus, they said no. They were wrong. It works great. Had to modify the primer tube length (cut it in half) and make an aluminum plate to sit on the nexus shell holder. Am going to make a better plate that has pegs that will insert into the holes in the spare cam discs. This will keep it from moving around, although just the plate on top works fine.

Any updates yet? I’m so curious how the design would work. Also, with cutting down the primer holder, how many are you holding now?
It works great. have seated over 100 primers with no issues. I bought a 6 pack of MJC primers on Amazon for less than one Hornady primer tube. Fits perfect. I havent filled the tube so not sure how many it can hold, but it's about half capacity of a full tube. Below is my rough design for the plate. I've been using just a .12 thickness aluminum plate and it works fine. My final design will be 5/8th thick, and have two brass 6mm long "feet" on the underside of the plate to hold it in place. The feet will just drop into the spare cam pucks on the press. I'm using brass so they don't mar the DLC coating on the pucks. I experimented just drilling a 6mm hole in the aluminum and screwing in a stainless bolt. It worked well, just won't look as nice with the bolt head sticking out the top. I'm waiting on an 80 tooth carbide saw blade to cut this thick plate. Will post pics and update when it's done.

That is so awesome! Really cool to see you doing this for us Nexus guys who are debating to either get off press primer seater or find alternate solution such as what you are doing. Can’t wait to see the end product 👍

why do you run two shell holders? the one it comes with isnt designed to be run up onto the cap like that....
I'm not using two shell holders. The factory set up is not changed, the plate is just a flat surface for the ram. The Ugly comes with a flat shell holder but it wont fit in the Nexus, only their shell holders do.

Fits just fine….. the silver one on yours should be in the press not under the seater body.

I’m trying to resize the image of mine.

I think he meant to say 2x split /rings, not shell holders.
I’d wager you’re using two rings for die stability- reduced wobble. Good call!

An alternative is to Butcher/ turn down the supplied Forster Co-Ax anvil to fit/ snap into the SAC .308 shellholder.
I’m sure Derraco Eng can do a better job and supply if asked.
Using the x2 lock rings makes it very stable.

Hey! May I ask that would it work better if I'd take the three built in shell holders out from the Nexus and perhaps put a taller block/ bridge thingy as the anvil instead of a sheet to achieve the same level of consistency? I am deciding weather to get the nexus now or getting a coax purely depending on their availability due to where I live since I don't really know if I can take advantage/ find any noticeable difference of the nexus' improvement with my current reloading skills...
