Well yeah, war on terror was the same thing. You've got the 30mil predator drone firing a missile that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars (or millions) into a cave to kill a 5'4" tall sand person who has a rusty AK and a bucket full of hand grenades.
The US spends about 800 billion on defense annually. There's a lot of people making a lot of money not to mention regular blue collar folks, cities around military bases, it's a huge part of our economy.
