Anyone come up with any decent homemade ultrasonic solutions for brass? I’ve been using lemishine and dawn and it works ok but for some reason theres always some residue on the outside of the necks on the 6.5 creedmoor cases

Maybe its your solution ratio. I use 1/4 teaspoon per pint of hot water. Then add a few drops of Armor-All Wash-N-Wax. 1 hr in the ultrasonic cleaner then, after drying, 90 mins in a vibratory tumbler with walnut media.

I deprime my brass before doing any cleaning. Lot of crap comes off in the ultrasonic cleaner and keeps the walnut media clean (no primer or carbon reside). The ultrasonic cleaner doesn't give the brass a great finish. That's what the walnut media is for...polishing.

I just bought a Harbor Freight Ultrasonic Cleaner. I watched a few videos on youtube and just cleaned my first 2 batches of handgun brass with very good results. I used warm tap water and added just under a cup of white distilled vinegar, a teaspoon of Dawn dish soap and a teaspoon of salt and stirred it up until salt was dissolved which took seconds. I used the heat mode and ran for the 480 seconds (8 minute cycle) and did this 3 times. I had two cold water rinse baths ready. I put cleaned brass in first rinse and stirred them around then transferred to the 2nd rinse and stirred them around. After that, just shook them free of water and laid them on a towel to dry. They look clean inside and out. Ready to reload. May try the oven drying method.

Yeah mine works great on handgun brass and even smaller cases like 6.5 Grendel. But for some reason the creedmoor cases don't get as clean. I do stand them all up in a cup when I clean them though. Maybe I’ll try laying them down
