I found this barreled action on GunBroker. The seller said he thought it had been in a fire. The gun just looked old in the photo, and it didn't apper to be burnt or warped. It had a unique toggle bolt that I had never seen before. After contacting the seller as to why he thought it had been in a fire, he replied that it probably wasn't in a fire, functioned fine, but had "weak springs". I got it for under $400. I google searched and couldn't find anything on the "300". I contacted zfk55sr who is an expert on Swiss guns and he too could find very little info. The bore was in excellent condition. The exterior had fine pitting and dirt. The action functioned smoothly, held cock, but would not fire when the trigger was pulled. You could fire it by pushing the "cocking piece" with your thumb. Took the bolt apart and someone had cut down the firing pin spring. I took a bolt from another K31 and put it in. The gun held cock fine and the trigger had a great pull. I assume that whoever had the gun had purposely cut the firing pin spring so that he could fire it py pushing the cocking piece with his thumb. I replaced the spring and the gun functioned pefectly. I took it out and test fired it to see if it would blow up. After a couple of rounds, both the gun and empty cases looked fine. I had an old Schultz and Larsen free rifle stock that I pillar bedded the action into. I added an Anschutz butt plate, rail, Parker Hale 25b rear sight, and some type of Euro trigger guard. Cerakoted it in Titanium/Flat Black. I put an old Lyman Super targetspot on it and went out to test fire. Very impressive... .75 MOA using Hornady Match 168g ELD. I'm sure the gun will shoot better than this. Still working on it.

Man that’s sweet. Question, do you see much of the front sight in the scope? And or will you remove that to shoot with optics?

Scope height seems like the front site would encroach into the sight picture.

I left the front sight on when I shot the groups shown. You really can't notice it, but it depends a lot on the scope. The old Lyman Super Targetspot is in excellent condition and is crystal clear and I don't notice any degradation in optical clarity when leaving the front sight on. However, when I leave the front sight on and use my NightForce NXS, the sight picture is degraded. Not sure why. For serious shooting I remove the front sight no matter what scope i use.

That is a very interesting piece. There are a lot of oddball actions from CH due to a lot of gunsmiths building cool stuff .
I've not seen that type of bolt handle used on any of them though. Did you take a standard K31 bolt and just remove the cocking handle?
Wonderful stuff and great job stocking it.

That’s why I asked. I’ve not used a standard target scope. On my air rifles with Leupolds and with my Anschutz I always see part of the globe in the sight picture, though only or especially on low power settings.
