I recently built a rifle for a friend who basically told me to build the best rifle I can, and didn't give me a definite budget. Just to stay within reason and try to find deals. We got it together and shot it yesterday and I also took my MATEN build from last year with similar build philosophy.

I put a lot of thought into this one and pretty much every part was chosen or a specific reason

Falkor Ambi Receivers and Transition Handguard
Bartlien 16" 7.7 twist from Craddock
Armalite bolt
Bootleg venting Gas Carrier
JP SCS
Geissele SSA-E

We collected parts for 4-5 months and got parts on sale best we could. Total cost was surprisingly low, probably under $1200 for the rifle itself, but that was with several ridiculous sales (Falkor) and parts off prize tables.

We ran various factory loads through yesterday and both Black Hills Reman and IMI77 shot in the .5s. PMC 77 wasn't quite as good. I ran a group of my handloads through and it also shot in the .5s. Not bad for first time out. Apologies for the messy targets, we had multiple rifles shooting at the same papers. The ones from this rifle are labelled. All shots were suppressed through his Omega and one of my spare optics. He'll be getting a Vudu shortly for it.

@just browsing show them how it shot today.

While at the range, I went ahead and shot a 6X5 with my MATEN.

MEGA MML Large Frame Receivers and handguard
Bartlien 24" M24 5R 8 Twist turned and chambered by PVA
JP LMOS Carrier
JP HP Bolt
JP SCS
Geissele HS-Match
March 3-24X52 on a Spuhr

Lets not worry about how much this one cost ;)

I shot factory Berger Ammo 130 Hybrids and they shot very well. A little hotter than I prefer out of a gas gun, but did not run into any issues.

did you happen to take any pics during the build process?? I've always been kind of curious to see how the falkor handguard design works. is it a true free floating design or does the handguard to come in contact with the barrel nut?

Unfortunately we did not. Didn’t think to do so. The Falkor handguard mounts to the barrel nut and is not true free floating like the Mega.

Here is a good video on how it mounts:

It’s certainly different. It has to be timed but final torque value was above 45 but less than 50. I generally prefer around 40 so not too far off.

The Falkor upper is designed to be very tight on the barrel extension. The ID of the upper is not uniform as there is a lip inside to create an extremely tight fit. IMO it’s a little too tight as I had to not only heat it up but use the mechanical advantage of the barrel nut to seat the barrel. I will not be able to remove it myself and I’ll have to send it to adco.

I have some thoughts about the lip but it will be difficult to explain with just words.
