Went to the bone doc today and were told to get rid of the brace and start walking. No walker, no chair, get your ass up and go. That's pretty much all the prompting he needed. Surgery to remove plate and screws is scheduled for Dec 21 and will be out patient. Thanks for all the prayers guys. We dodged a huge bullet on this thing.

P.S. We burned the brace in the fire pit in the back yard. He was thrilled.

Re: Update on my son.

Glad to hear that. A lot of prayers were answered. Give him some sage advice from one who wishes he had received it.

"Your young, and heal quick, but take a LOT of time and heal completely, or in years to come youll suffer for not doing it. You may be able to run and jump and do all that stuff, but the bones are not HEALED, they are healing. Take it slow, son."

If your a good dad, and I feel like you are, youll remind him of that often in the next year or so. Doesnt have to be a pussy, just realize that it will be quite a while before he's really 100%.

My 2 cents.

Couldn't agree more!

Glad your son is going to be OK, and I hope that hole your nephew is buried in is nice and deep.

Re: Update on my son.

Maggot, I'm trying real hard to slow him down. It's hard to tell a kid who has been dragging a walker around for two months to take it easy. He's doing great at therapy and not once has he bitched or said why me. He has a super attitude and is stoked about youth season opening next weekend. The only things the doctor told him not to do were as follows..... Don't join the Marines or jump on a trampoline for at least three months. I'll try to get some pictures of him today. I think we're going to play hooky and go to the zoo. I love you guys, you never fail to keep me entertained, and occasionally refocused on what's important in life.

Dont know the story on this, but
I do know I hope your son recovers from what ever afflicts and ails him.
I know how this can affect him and his whole family.
Speedy recovery, you sound like a real concerned parent.
Take care

Lots of deep breathing exercises and counting to 100 Quee. He's a damn trooper. He is stoked about being able to walk to the deer stand next weekend. I don't give a damn what walks out, if it's brown, it's down. Deer beware!
