I am looking at a used Trijicon ACOG TA31F. It is almost 10 years old. The clear tube over the fiber optic has stress fractures and I am not sure the tritium is as well as it should be even for it's age.

Anyone have customer service experience with Trijicon, Is warranty held to original owner? Has anyone had these repairs made?

I have had a very good experience with Trijicon customer service. I sent in 2 ACOGs because the adjustments were way the hell off, and one of them had a crescent moon crack in the objective. They replaced the internals, as well as the objective, no cost.

Check the brightness of the reticle in sunlight. If it is good, then the stress fractures shouldn't be a big deal. But who knows, I don't know how Trijicon will approach that one. But I would guess that they will help you out. The tritium is a perishable product. If you want your tritium back, you will have to pay for a refill. I am guessing around $200.

Make sure it isn't a .mil scope. There's many out there that grew legs via sticky fingers, and Trijicon will not only not work on your scope, you won't get it back either. https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/support/product_authenticity.php

Also, their website states "original owner" so they may opt to not honor the warranty if they so wish. I've read about others second-hand scopes being given warranty service, but I wouldn't count on that being the case for everyone. https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/support/warranty.php

I ran the serial number, it was sold through what trijicon called "a reputable dealer" it was built in 2005. After taking it outside at night in low light, that tritium is brighter than I thought, deffinetly a quality optic. The cracks in the clear coating over the fiber optic appear to be a non factor in performance. Thanks for the advice and information.

I was quoted 590.00$ to replace the tritium in an ACOG. You could always tape a mini chemlight stick to the fiber optic or I also found a bow sight pin light that was a single LED light on a flexible neck that you could wrap around and tape on to the ACOG so you could have an on / off control for illumination.

Has anyone disassembled a ta01 acog? I have one that won't zero; wind & elev knobs broken. They click and screw in and out, but point of aim doesn't change. Serial number was ground off by previous owner. I'm tempted to take it apart, but wanted to seek help before I do. Thanks.
