Used Sako TRG-42 .338 Lapua Magnum....what to look for prior to purchase?

I owned a TRG years ago and LGS had a collector trade a couple in. Initial inspection looked to be like new, very little wear on the bolt, strong rifling. Fixed stock (green) version with picatinny rail, sako bopid and sako 3 ring scope mount. $3k.

I'm researching what other platforms/makes might be out there in this price range. Total bench gun...I have other hammers for hunting purposes and would like to add a .338 back to the stable.

Thoughts on what to look at/for in these rifles??? Thank you in advance.

Around 2013 they went from one ejector to two. They also switched the twist at that time. The Two ejector bolt has a faster twist for heavier bullets.

Also check the throat with a scope if you can as well as the bolt face for flame cutting and back of the bolt lugs for any damage.

The two ejector bolt was only for the 338L.

I won’t miss the boat on this. If you say it’s as-is, with the bolt face and bore looking good, and the rifle appearing like new, I’ll bite the bullet and call it a day.
