If you are one of the lucky few to own an IR laser there is an easy way to confirm that it is operational. Use the camera on your Droid-X or IPhone. It will pick up the IR beam.

If you are using a non-eyesafe laser, ensure that the surface you are pointing the IR laser at is non-reflective i.e. point it in a safe direction.

If you are checking the operation of an Eye-safe laser, you will have to be sure to pick a surface that will not absorb the .07mw of IR energy. However, you must still point it in a safe direction.

So if anyone has buddies overseas that rely on IR marking during ops, let them know, we need to get this info out there</div></div>

This is a good example of the need for active IR Discipline at all times.

So what you are saying and showing is that, the laser beam can be detected by the camera of just about any cellphone as long as we look through the screen etc.
WOw...didn't know that. Must be more careful with my IR.
Thanks for the information.
